have your best friend help you walk up to him and start a conversation then you will have another opinion if he is a good guy

Well, I'm a kinda shy too, but think this, If you don't talk to him, you could be losing lots of possibilities and, more than that, you would miss the opportunity to make something happens, so, give it a shot, and just do it...
