It could be any number of possibilities - If the cat is use to be handled by you and your friends more than your mother; if your mother has a cat (or other pet) of her own, your cat will sense it; your mother may do something different when playing with your cat that gets it more excited than usual; it could be that your mother has a distinctive smell (e.g., perfume, pheromones) that your cat either likes a lot or dislikes a lot; or it could be that her fingers smell like fried chicken -lol. Also, cats can have a preference - it could prefer young people over adults, girls over boys, etc. My previous cat didn't like dog people at all and she preferred females over males.

If your cat is biting and NOT hissing, it's probably just because your mother does something or has a smell that gets it more excited than usual. Now if the cat bites AND hisses at her, then it may be because your mother doesn't meet your cats "preference of worthiness" (cats are stuck-up that way) - and there's really nothing you can do about that. Cats are selective by nature.

The only thing I can really suggest is to tell your mom to move her hands slowly and to back off the first time it tries to bite her and try again at a later time. If that doesn't eventually work (it could take a month), then tell your mom to wear gloves.

One other thing - if your cat is still young (less than a year old), you can try getting your mom to lightly bop its nose and say, "No!" in a firm, but not loud voice, every time the cat does it. This doesn't always work and the chances of success depend on how young the cat is. If it's an adult cat, it probably won't work at all.

You mom may use a different soap or hand cream than you do, which your cat may really like! My sister wears wears this lotion that her cats don't care much about, but my cats go crazy for. They'll rub themselves all over her when she comes over wearing it (and it doesn't even have to be freshly applied - sometimes 8 to 10 hrs earlier). Even my really gentle boy will lick on her legs and feet and get an over-excited nibble in - and he NEVER bites. Just a thought, hope it helps!

It seems that your mother move her finger a lot .. that attracts the attention of the cat usually ... or maybe your mother hit her before or something , so she is paying back

Your cat might just be playing. Does your mom smoke? Your cat might smell something on your mom's finger that he doesn't like. Since no one else is bothered, I'd ask your mom to be sure to wash her hands before she plays with the cat.

Jealousy is the first thing that comes to mind. Perhaps the cat notices that you have some special love for your mother and the cat wants it all for herself.

Maybe they're playing with the cat too much or it doesn't like other people.

Maybe your mothers fingers look and smell like lovely sausages. Smell them, have a look and see if you get the same urge.

My cat bites when scared and when it's overstimulated, like when I brush for a little too long.

possibly he does not understand he's been "mounted" Male cats will chunk women on the back of the neck in the time of the breeding just to hold the female nevertheless. The 'chunk' does not smash the floor.

SOME cats prefer the company of their owners rather then of strangers.
