I tend to name our stray cats based on their looks. Over the years we've had Tiger, Ginger, Spotty, Shadow and Small Head (yes, Small Head).

Nothing is coming to mind for me here, though. Except maybe Mishmosh!

But when I was coming up with names for my girls, I considered Lillith, Lily (I really like that one), Keiko, and Hector Ramirez. I though it would be funny to name my black cat Lillith, appropriate to name my Siamese mix Keiko (I know it's japanese, but whatever), and it still makes me giggle to think of a cat with a first and last name!

I ended up with Poppy and Sophie. Poppy came with her name, but I renamed Sophie because I think of it as an elegant name.

Another funny idea I had was to name a cat Mommy or Daddy. I was picturing the vet coming into the waiting room and saying "Mommy?"

I also think it's a hoot for cats to have middle names. Somehow both my girls ended up with Marie as their middle names. And when she's really naughty, Sophie turns into Sophia Marie!

Here's an idea - check out the human society site. They list the names they've given their cats. I actually got a few ideas from them. This is a link to the Wisconsin one.

The Naming Of Cats via T. S. Eliot The Naming of Cats is a complicated rely, it particularly is not in elementary terms one among your holiday video games; you may think of earlier each and every little thing i'm as mad as a hatter as quickly as I inform you, a cat might desire to have 3 diverse NAMES. first of all, there is the call that the kinfolk use on a regular basis, consisting of Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James, consisting of Victor or Jonathan, George or invoice Bailey-- all of them clever frequent names. There are fancier names in case you think of they sound sweeter, some for the gents, some for the dames: consisting of Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter-- yet all of them clever frequent names. yet I inform you, a cat needs a recognition it fairly is limited, a recognition it fairly is abnormal, and greater dignified, Else how can he shop up his tail perpendicular, Or unfolded his whiskers, or cherish his delight? Of names of this way, i'm going to offer you a quorum, consisting of Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, consisting of Bombalurina, in the different case Jellylorum- Names that on no account belong to greater advantageous than one cat. yet above and previous there continues to be one call left over, and that's the call which you on no account will guess; The call that no human study can detect-- however the CAT HIMSELF knows, and could on no account confess. once you spot a cat in profound meditation, the reason, I inform you, is often a similar: His innovations is engaged in a rapt contemplation Of the belief, of the belief, of the seen his call: His ineffable effable Effanineffable Deep and inscrutable singular call.

I love the name Whiskers. It sounds so perfect for a cat with lkong whiskers, and sarcastically funny for a cat with barely any. Both ways, even though you didn't say anything about whiskers. Hah!
