Glasgow is the best city [followed closely by Edinburgh, and their only 45minutes apart...] Glasgow is a vibrant, cosmopolitain city, rich in culture and the Arts, It's a busling city, great shopping, great for going out in, loads of art galleries and museums and all of them free. It's a good size city, easy to travel around, it has it's own underground system, but it's just as easy to cover the city on foot. The city is rich in architecture and History, and this is seen through the different areas of Glasgow. The merchant city, with its magnificent buildings built when glasgow was a rich trading city, now trendy with great bars and restaurants but still retaining a unique atmosphere. The westend, it has the 15 century Glasgow university buildings, kelvingrove art gallery and museum, the Botanic Gardens, the west end festival, interesting second hand stores, ashton lane a cobbled street with great bars, cinema and shops. Glasgow has the southside, main spot Shawlands great lively area, yet again steeped in history located beside the beautiful queens park, fab saturday morning farmers market, stone throw from the world famous burrell collection. Shawlands is also located besid ethe tramway arts theatre and art gallery, If I' ve not convinced you yet come visit for yourself...there is just so much to see and do, and the Glaswegians are a friendly bunch..

Edinburgh, surrounded by it's 7 hills is without a doubt the best. It is so vibrant, has wonderful architecture, brilliant places of historical interest & art galleries. fantastic gardens, great places to eat and drink and a public transport that is second to none. During August when the festival is on the population quadruples and the atmosphere is just awesome. There's something for everyone in Edinburgh and as it's just a small city in comparison to London it is well able to retain a degree of intimacy.
