call your vet. if you have a good relationship with him, sometimes he'll give you 'under the table' answers. The local feed store people might know too.

Um no. Injecting frontline under the skin is doing nothing- it has to be on the skin in order to do what it is supposed to. More than likely what he does is buy one of the larger doses of frontline and uses a syringe with no needle to split the doses between the dog. It is still applied to the skin though. We do this sometimes with kittens that don't need a full dose of advantage. The problem is that the contents are not spread equally throughout the liquid- so one might get more than another.

I would have to say NO! It is a topical medication.

Your uncle may have something that is similar to Frontline but is actually not. It is not out of the question for someone to get their meds confused, there are so many out there.

Best be is to call the vet.

I can guarantee you the vet bill that would result from your injecting your dogs with a lethal dose (as you don't know what dosage to use) would surely be more than what it cost to give the meds properly.

Please do not inject Frontline under the skin. You could cause a MAJOR allergic reaction in your pet and the skin could open into a large sore. These sores can get large enough to require surgical repair. This can be very painful in your pets. I can't see how an injection would even work under the skin since the whole idea of the product is to get into hair follicles (on top of the skin) so underneath the skin would make it useless. Please call you vet before using any medication off label use!

This was never meant to be injected. Long term, you could have some serious problems that will cost far more in vet bills.

If you want to save money, use Bio Spot. It works just as well as Frontline. It is otc and I've used it for over 10 yrs on mine and on rescues.

Never administer a animals medicine other than as recommended. You are nuts to even be considering it. The medicine is designed to be absorbed into the skin - not to be injected under it. I have seen animals that have had reactions to flea products, and it isn't pretty. They start seizuring and can go into a coma and die, so it's nothing you can take lightly. You obviously have not discussed this with your vet - ask his/her opinion and see where it gets you.

Umm frontline is poison.Thats why you put it where they cant bite it.The only reason why his dogs are still alive is cause hes using less. Please don't go aginst the direction, putting poison into the blood stream dosnt sound good to me.

I've never heard of administering that way, and I wouldn't do it. It may not bother his dogs, but it could cause a serious reaction in yours.

Obviously it can be as someone is doing it.

Should it be? NO WAY. This is not meant to enter into the bloodstream.
