Throw that poor old computer away. I bet that the disk drive is small. There is a severe lack of memory.

You would want a Pentium II or III at least.

You would want 10GB of Hard drive space

You would want 128MB of RAM.

Let poor old computers lie in their grave.

Ebay would be the place, but I would not suggest buying a used OS from them, due to Microsoft EULA. Maybe try Amazon.com or Overstock.com. But to forewarn you, Microsoft will no longer have any support help for windows 98. Meaning no windows updates, in order to get any of the future updates, you must have windows xp SP 2 or a higher OS.

the only suggestion i might make is which you get off the Win98 container thoroughly. acquire and burn a Ubuntu linux cd and develop your horizons. i'm somewhat valuable it is going to help the hardware carry out faster, in line with it being a Win98 container. in case you're nevertheless caught on domicile windows, and have the license, you will possibly desire to probable reload the Win95 O/S and patch like loopy. Get good virus protection too. i take advantage of AVG from grisoft on the grounds it fairly is loose. I you have or can load an antivirus, you may attempt to run it in secure mode. it particularly is nicely worth a attempt. good success!

As microsoft no longer makes or sells 98, you will have to go "used". So either a local computer show or ebay.

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)

ALL ELSE FAILS - RELOAD YOUR O/S (WINDOWS) AND THEN REINSTALL ALL OTHER PROGRAMS YOU NEED/USE!
