It's tough to make a recommendation based on negative data. Perhaps you should say what you do believe in. That might help to offer some direction.

If you're really searching for truth, God will lead you to it. So be listening!! I found truth in a church that teaches the Book of Acts and my life has changed! I never knew I could have this much peace. I was raised Methodist, and church was just another "service" on my part. Made my appearance, sang a few songs, then went about my life. My first visit to our new church, I thought the people were nuts. But I know now that finding this church was an awesome gift. I have found that having a relationship with God makes all the difference. I am still growing in my relationship with Him, and am learning new things every day. I was baptized by submersion in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost on New Year's Eve. I came out of that water with a sense of peace that was unlike anything I've ever had before. God will show you the way if you let him!! I think the website is http://www.upci.org if you'd like to learn more. If that's the wrong address, just search "upci" and it should come up. Best of luck to you! Lord Bless...

About ten years ago i stood where you are now. I believed there was a God but not in any religions. Lets start with you comment about the 10 comandments. Jesus Said in Matthew 1:17 he came to fullfil the the law. So we are no longer under the restraints of the Mosaic Law that would include the ten commandments, and Paul said Said in Romans 10:4 Christ was the end to the Law. Does this mean were free to do what we will. Well sense we took Paul to discount the 10 lets use his words on what we should avoid in Gal 5:19-23-
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, idolatry, practice of spiritism, hatreds, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning you, the same way as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom."
So what should we do. Well Paul goes on to say- "On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control.”
We should just trust our hearts then to tell us whats right? No Jerimiah said
"The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it? I, Jehovah, am searching the heart, . . . even to give to each one according to his ways, according to the fruitage of his dealings.”(Jer 17:9,10)
Your right when you said there are so many religions out there but Jesus told us there is only one faith and narrow is the road leading to salvation.
So your answer my friend is prayer, for God is the hearer of prayer (Ps 65:2). It is what I did and he sent me an answer one Saturday Morning when the Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door and answered my questions. I hope you can find the same peace I found be willing to listen and always make the Bible you main auhority for from it God speaks to us even today.

you have some very mixed-up ideas about religion. it's not a club. it's not about "belonging" or "attending" or "being a part of something."
it's not really about religion anyway, it's about a personal relationship with Christ.
(and for everyone else who wrote on here, it's spelled "Catholicism", and Catholics ARE Christians! get it straight, you're just going to confuse ppl even more!)
anyway, Christ is the only way to peace and eternal life. in John chapter 4 Christ says, "Everyone who drinks of this [well] water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life."
the Catholic church, i believe, has too much of a focus on rules and rituals and things like that--they aren't focusing on a personal relationship with Christ and simple, childlike faith in God, so a lot of people who say they are Catholic are actually missing the whole point.
try going to a Protestant church, b/c the foundations of Christianity are the same in both, but you will probably have an easier time finding anwers in the Protestant denomination.
and DON'T LISTEN to the ppl who say you should just make up your own religion or try to find peace within yourself!!! it won't work! Humans are very self-centered, so if it were really possible to find peace within yourself, religion wouldn't exist on Earth.
If all else fails, just read the Bible. get a modern translation like the Message, so it's easy to understand. it's really laid out pretty clear what Christ's sacrifice & Christianity are all about.
also, since you're having doubts about God & faith in general, u should read "Know Why You Believe" by Paul Little. i tell everyone this :) b/c it's a great book, and it answered a lot of my questions!

It is not enough to worship 'a god'. Some religions have many gods.
I believe that Christ died for our sins, and believe that accepting Him as Lord over my life and my Saviour will give us inner peace. We will still have problems and hurdles, but we will not be alone. It is not necessary to be a member of a formal religion, but my statements obviously are of the Christian faith.
I went to Catholic churches before. The formality and rituals make it seem fake to me. People just go to mass every week, and that's it. But I guess it works for others. I've gone to Presbyteriam and Pentecostal churches. The atmosphere is more informal, and they encourage people to grow spiritually. To some that means meeting with other believers. To others it means serving the Lord, perhaps by helping others (you can fill in blanks here).
But you are doing the best thing right now by asking. 'Ask, and you shall receive'.
God will find you. Keep looking, and God bless.

I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus and that he died for our sins. But personally, I dont agree with the catholic religion or it's beliefs. I think mass is boring and pointless, I gont get anything out of it nor learn anything from attending. I dont like kneeling and standing then kneeling again and sitting and chanting and on and on and on... Catholics seem to think they can do whatever they want all week long then confess on the weekend and they are good to go again. I go to a non-denominational church that is inspirational, the pastor is exciting, the music is great, and its actually a lot of fun! But, its still church, and I have learned a lot about Christianity, Jesus, and how to be a better person. I used to feel religions were fake and almost cult like and it really turned me off to God in general. When I found this church it all changed and so did my entire life! I am so thankful everyday that God lead me to it!

I see it here all the time and it's true.. Religion is evil an invention of man. God deals in relationships between Himself and mankind. Can you see that the Bible is a love story. It describes His love and His work to bring mankind to himself. I don't know if you are ready to understand part of the nature of God. How he is completely just and how He is completely merciful. And how He worked it out so He could be both at the same time. Mankind is evil in His site so why would he even care 2 cents about us.. Only He knows but I thank Him that He does. That evil He turned to righteousness through the person and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God asks only that you trust Him to make you his child and will promised to do it. Faith isn't easy there are days when I see that I am the worst man that ever walked the earth and wonder how ans why God would care.. Then by faith I pull myself together and try to live for Him..

i know that after u read the next line, u might not continue but i'll say it anyway...
ISLAM
do u know how many ppl converted to Islam after 9/11? MILLIONS
first of all, i'd just like to say, read the Quran and make sure u read it from a trusted book...Islam is a great religion and even though some ppl see that it's not, it is. A lot of ppl (terrorists mostly) have done bad things in the name of Islam but it's all not true and i just ask u to read about Islam, especially the Quran
second of all, Islam has proved in many ways that it's the right religion...i'll give u an example
eg. in the Quran it says that on a specific day, the moon was split in half and then put back again...only recently, have scientists discovered that there is scientific evidence that the moon has actually split....we knew it all along, and scientists proved it
.......PLEASE JUST READ THE QURAN.......

To follow a religion means to get in contact with God, which in my opinion is a natural outcome if you believe in ONE God in the first place.
I practice Islam, and so far, i have not found other religions to top it (im sorry, i am not trying to offend other religions). It is so beautiful in its philosophy and praises God amazingly.
I've always allowed a fair chance for other religions to express themselves to see if they are better than in Islam, but none were able to give God the greatness Islam did and, hence, were not able to answer the number if questions Islam was able to
However, whenever a claim was made about God not existing, I simply smiled at it because I knew (and still do) that that claim can never be true, and I have always managed to give explanations as to why God DOES exist (even though some people were not able to see my point :P)
So, in short, stick to your belief in ONE God and check out the religions, and hopefully your strong belief in that ONE God will lead you to the answer, the same way it led me ;)

I'm an old bird and grew up a Catholic. I left the church in my twenties, next step Episcopalians then tried another and I found out that I really do not like any of the churches. I started to read all I could about (and still do) and for me anything organized is out. I find my own church in my garden, I pray every day to what I believe in. I think there is no one on earth who can tell you what you should believe in. Your spiritual journey is yours only. If you ask for a teacher then the teacher shall be shown. Meditate on your inner peace and you will be shown what to do next. Blessings.

You should try listing off some of the things you DO believe and search for a religion that believes the same things. In fact, you might want to list them here and people could tell you what religion they seem to match most closely. Maybe that would point you in the right direction?
