The first time I questioned something and the most logical answer I was given was "It's God's way." I'd say somewhere around 9-10 years old.

I didn't understand it as a kid. Then I started learning about it during High School and I could easily see the inconsistencies and cruelty that such a religon is. Sending people to hell for beleiving in other religons. Clearly there are people in other parts of the world that do not get the "benefit" of knowing Christianity, yet they are hell bound for not worshiping God. They don't even have a chance. How is that a loving God. Also, I can't beleive in any superior being appearing out of thin air and having this Ego that constantly needs to be stroked or it gets mad and punishes you for eternity. Seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. After that I started learning the many, many inconsistencies in thier own teachings. Even if you look at Jesus's words he is inconsistent.

When I was a teenager it seemed a little fishy but like a good christian I figured it had something to do with the mysterious ways.

From the begining. The Christian god does not predate the Bible. The Christian god was not around in the beginning of human history. Nobody wrote about him until much later. In fact, Pagan gods are much older than he is. For a god who supposedly created the world, humans and etc, why is he so young compared to human-kind and the world itself?

The goddess Ishtar is older than the Christian god. She was around long before he was. In fact many deities are older than he is. How could such a noob come around much later in history claiming that he created everything that was already there before he even existed? That wouldn't make sense. But for all of you people who believe in talking snakes, you will obviously believe in anything.

There is nothing fishy or mysterious about it. Believe John 3:16 or not. It is as simple as that.

By the way my Karma ran over your dogma. Sorry.

I was watching my fundamentalist aunt help my cousin to solve a kid's jigsaw puzzle...when my cousin got stumped on where a piece went, my aunt looked at her and said "Well, where would Jesus put the piece?"

Suddenly, at age ten, I realized that there was something very very wrong with that question, and that in no way did I want to grow up believing the things my aunt did. Come to think of it, I bet I'd really make her ultra-christian day if I called her up and mentioned that thanks to her, I embarked on my path to atheism.

As a child my very first day of sunday school was an eye opening experience. All us children are listening to the bible stories and i remember being amused by the stories to the point of looking around me to see who else was trying not to burst out loud laughing.
