What's with you and ettiqute!? Like seriously if this person needs the insulin right away to stay sound and alive, let her be. It's better to stand an insulin shot than to see her collapse in the table and then have to call 911. If you had diabetes you would understand.

Yes. That is completely disgusting. No one wants to see her shoot herself in the arm with a needle. In fact, some people are deathly afraid of needles. She should excuse herself and go to the ladies room or out to the car, take care of business, and return. Its like asking if she should change her tampon at the dinner table.

Obviously, if she is going to die that second without the injection it is ok. However, I'm pretty sure that she could wait the 20 seconds it takes to get up and go somewhere a bit more private.

I have to confess.....I've done this. But only because, especially at a restaurant, my insulin works within 10-15minutes. If I don't inject at precisely the right time, my blood sugar could bottom out and it's a trip to the ER. However, I've always asked those around me if it's okay to inject. They usually say okay.

Since some are queasy about blood and needles, it is not the most polite thing in the world. But, I would excuse it since it's for something that is serious and medical.

I hate it when people blow their noses at the table. Ugh much worse.

No, it's not. She should excuse herself and do it in a more appropriate, and should I say sanitary place. She is being incredibly insentive to people who may not like the sight of needles and who may lose their appetite or dinner due to such a self-centered act.

Unless she has a problem with her mobility, She should excuse herself, and go to another room to give herself her insulin.

Personally I don't have a problem with it. I grew up watching my grandfather give himself a shot every morning. It's probably just her routine and I don't think it's something that she should feel self conscious about especially if she's doing this in her own home.

Yeah, that's kinda gross. I understand that for a diabetic it is a natural part of their day, and I'm not saying they have to do it totally in private if they don't want, but that is not the place, and it depends on if it is going to make people around them uncomfortable.

would you rather she collapse at the table as you continue dinner politely? give her a break. It should be fine unless she teaches a finishing school.

I think it doesn't take into account how the people around her might feel. A quick trip to the bathroom solves everyone's problems.
