when they come into your home and determine if it is a fit place for a child? How do they determine if it is? Has this happened to you and if so what exactly did they do?

It's never happened to me, but what they look for is signs of neglect. They want to make sure that theres food in the house, that the house is clean and suitable for a child to live in. They want to make sure the child has sufficient clothing, that there are no hazards to the child, like cleaning solutions with in reach and that sort of thing. If you're a good parent then you really don't have much to worry about.

Sure you don't mean DSS (department of social security)?

I afraid, i have limited knowledge of the DSS, but i would assume that their findings will be based on the child's:

General health and wellbeing
Environment
School attendance and achievement
Your income and capability to support
Your own lifestyle, and ability to maintain a good upbringing for the child

Sorry, wish I could impart more, but that's all i know.

In chicago, they do next to nothing. If no one admits to anything nothing will happen. they just talk. If you want change. open your mouth.
