I've heard that almost most cats love catnip. my male kitten likes to play with his catnip toys but every time my other cat sees a catnip toy she goes and sniffs it and just walks away. I guess it just depends on her personality but I think it's kind of odd that she doesn't like it. any suggestions? I'm just wandering.

It can take cats awhile to develop a taste for catnip. When my husband and I first got together, we each had a cat, mine was used to cat nip, so when I would sprinkle some out on the floor, he'd roll in it, and eat it up like it was candy. Louie used to just sit and stare at him like he was nuts. But after 6 months or so, Louie also started to do the same with the cat nip. Now I have to keep the bag in a secure place, because, if it is in a cupboard that Louie can get open, he will grab the bag, tear it open and spread it everywhere. If you really want to see if your cat will like it, go to Home Depot or Lowes, any place this time of year when you can buy fresh herbs ,and get a plant. Put it in a pot and let it grow inside. It's actually an attractive plant. Pinch off a fresh leaf now and again, and give it to the cats. I promise you, you will see a different side to your cat.

Only 20% of cats respond to catnip. Cheeta's don't respond to it at all. It's too bad your cat doesn't, but if you wanna have some fun, bring a bag of catnip to the zoo next time you go, and when no one's looking, throw it in with the lions! It's fun to watch a lion get nipped up! As for the person who said their cat likes the smell of pot, my cat does too!

It could be that she doesn't like the ingredients in the catnip. I suggest that you try other kinds of catnip because that's what my cat did. There's catnip that taste like shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, etc. Just try different kinds until you find one your cat likes.

Most likely its because your cat is a kitten and his brain is not yet receptive to the catnip. It doesnt turn on until late kittenhood/ early adulthood

Cats are like humans, their tastes differ between individuals. She probably just doesnt like it, so dont worry:) My cat doesnt like it either, but whatever, that's less money spent on catnip!

I read that some cats aren't affected by catnip...your cat could be one of them.

I find it insanely facinating why you would spend one ounce of time worrying about this bullsh*t. Why its the sky blue, why does the sun come up in the East? Who gives a f*ck - it just does.

You need to go outside - there's actually real sh*t going on in the world, check it out.
