I push as well. The CAUSE is from not bending your left elbow on the follow through. As is, the left elbow doesn't bend - at all or not enough - which results in a push. Seems like the previous answers didn't address and fix this problem, rather they provide a temporarty fix that will create new bad habits.
How do you FIX a push? Here are a few tips.
1. Tell yourself to BEND THAT LEFT ELBOW. On your backswing the right elbow is bent and on the follow through the left elbow should be bent. So hit the driving range and practice, pracitice, practice. If you've been golfing for years, this is an old problem that will take time to fix. If you a new golfer, then you'll fix it shortly.
2. The towel technique. I've heard that one of the tips many golf books agree on is holding a towel in your armpits when swinging. Place one end under one armpit and put the other end under the orther armpit. (Wrap towel around back or chest, your choice). This will force you to keep you elbows in place thus resulting in a the proper swing. Be sure to pay more attention to the pros elbows and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I think I have the same problem. I went and hit some balls yesterday with one of the new drivers and was amazed how much straighter they went. I asked and was shown a pretty good explanation for this, but I can't draw it here. If you are using a small cheap driver you have to hit it almost perfectly. You may like one of the bigger drivers. See a fitting professional. If that isn't the problem then I would just say practice more.

Make sure when your hitting woods that u put the ball forward in your stance and put your weight on your right side then make sure your swing has a good tempo and follow through and one last thing make sure u stay down on the ball a lot of people lift there head to try see where they are hitting the ball! Good Luck

I would pull a Jarmo Sandelin and get an extra long shaft and lessen the backswing for control. You can almost do a punch and run shot with these off the tee and be right down the middle and 250 - 300 yards but the thing is consistently hitting fairways.

now, i have that same problem with my driver but i tend to slice, and it also does take 30-40 yards off my shot. What i did was closed the face at my tee off. with you and your hook, what you have to do is place the ball in the front of your stance teeing up or on the fairway, so that when you swing, the club has enough time to align itself so that your shot will go straight. Also try opening up the face of the swing.

You need to take lessons. Getting tips will only provide short-term relief from your problem. Most tips will actually hurt your game. There are a number of reasons you are not hitting the ball straight, and only a good golf professional can determine the real cause of the problem. When you take your backswing, try to swing away from your body on your upswing. By the time the club is over your head, it will compensate and your body posture will automatically correct it. On the downswing, the club should be straight, and you won't see the hook.
This is how I corrected the same problem myself. Don't know if there are any better solutions. Good luck.

I found that when I had that problem I was gripping to tightly with my right hand and swinging with my right arm muscles instead of my left arm muscles. One last thing make sure that you are standing with your left foot toe pointing inwards and the heal of your right foot pointing out. I know it sounds weird but that is what my golf pro taught me and it really helps.

Go to wal-mart or some shoe store . but two different pairs of shoes. one with a 2in heal and the other flat or regular. when you go to golf next time put the higher heal shoe on your right foot . I know this sounds strange , but it does work . I know I do it !

Take some golf lessons from a professional and see what you are doing wrong with you stance and follow through. They should help u with ur mechainics...
