Have you seen these movies? Do you agree with the messages in them? Why or why not?

I think they are both very good movies that make some very good points.

Here's the imdb pages for both movies:

Quote from Dogma:

Rufus: He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the **** that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, but especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.
Bethany: Having beliefs isn't good?
Rufus: I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant.

Saved:

Mary: So everything that doesn't fit into some stupid idea of what you think God wants you just try to hide or fix or get rid of? It's just all too much to live up to. No one fits in one hundred percent of the time. Not even you.
Pastor Skip: I know that, Mary.
Dean: I know in my heart that Jesus still loves me.
Mary: Why would God make us all so different if he wanted us to be the same?

Dogma is one of the best written movies I've seen It's not only comical, but it makes you think about theology from a different perspective. Saved was cool too, but I didn't think the dialogue was as well written as Dogma's.

OMG Saved is hilarious. (Actually they both are.) I had my friend who is going to school to become a pastor watch Saved with me... he wasn't amused -- didn't get why I thought it was funny. Oh, well. In any case they are all excellent messages, too bad some people can't see the truth under the plot!

I didn't see Dogma....
I did see Saved. I thought it was a funny movie, and yes, I do agree with the message in it...to a point.

I thought Dogma was pretty stupid as far as the plot goes. Saved! was spot on.

The movie Dogma has one of the best lines describing christians "you people don't celebrated your faith, you mourn it."
Very true.

well, I base my standards this way:

Neither of those movies brought glory to God --- therefor, they're pitiful.

In my opinion, they make a mockery of the faith.

(But each to it's own...Who knows how God will choose to speak/challenge some folks?)
