Finger foods, because no one will have pockets to put things in. And it's easier to eat when standing.
Lots of fruit and veggies to keep things light, because you didn't lose all that weight to get in to that cute bikini, just to binge at the party.

Well... that all depends on the affect you want and the kind of people you're inviting. There's the usual hot dogs, burgers & chips, but if you want to get a little more exotic, you might try fish tacos (my aunt made some awesome halibut tacos for the 4th of July) and corn cooked in coconut milk (a recipe she got online).

Try to have food that won't spoil quickly in the sun.
Avoid things with mayonnaise and miracle whip.
Italian Pasta salad is good and it does not taste bad if it is warm or cold. And like other said chicken, hot-dogs and hamburgers are good choices. A fruit salad is good because the juice will rehydrate you too.
Hope you have fun.

depends on how eccentric you want to be. If you are wanting to go all out, try doing a pit grilled whole hog hawaiian or indonesian style, it is a lot of work, but i hear the taste is worth it. If you are looking for something a little more simplistic po-boys, sub sandwiches, anything like that should do with colorful drinks and snacks.

Make things that you can do in advance, like fried chicken, potato and macaroni salads, Cut up some watermelon or cantilope, easy things like that, Put them in tupperware containers with lids, so they wont get covered in sand, and just open them up when its time to eat. You can often find the big tupperware containers that at one time cost like 20 bucks, at thrift stores for a couple of dollars. just run them through the dishwasher, and they are fine!

If you bring a mini-bbq, you can make hotdogs! Just throw the weiners on the bbq and give everyone a bun.
Bring lots of chips and lots of soda, too.

bbq--chicken..burgers..hotdogs.. also keep some light things around like fruit/veggie tray. Since it's an outdoor gig stay away from things like custards/casseroles. Lastly, remember the alcohol!

Hamburgers and hotdogs are always good choices. Potato salad, chips, pickles, things like that are always good, too. You don't wanna serve anything too heavy to keep people from enjoying the water.
