ive got one, it just needs lots of water, i wouldn't recommend feeding it anything, it only needs to catch flies very rarely, overfeeding it will kill it. Certainly don't make the 'jaws' close artificially. mine grew enormous and then sprouted a really long stem up the middle that has got lots of flowers on it now

Just wait. It will open on its own when ready. They require a very particular environment. They need moderate temperature, medium to high humidity, and left alone. They do not handle stress or shock well. Some meats are too high in protein and will kill the leaf or the entire plant. Check the following website:

Sometimes the mouths won't reopen if there's not enough nutrients to asorb. Then, the mouth will probably die. I suggest feed it a small cube of meat, then waiting about a week or even more berfore feeding it again.

You just touch the trap, it will open. Put any type of small insects, it will digest in it.
