Some people say it is OK to discriminate (racially) when dating.

This is still discrimination. But why do we let this go? What reasons do you all have to justify this. Or not..

I think this is a nonsense question.

Discriminate is used in its negative definition... "discriminate against" to indicate that people are harmed because of their race, religion, national origin, etc. It really means choose amongst... so sometimes you also hear that people have "discriminating tastes"... they are choosy about what they like.

I think that's the right approach to dating. You get to choose what you like... blonde, brunette, black, yellow, gay. If there's a gay guy that really likes you but you're straight and won't give him the time of day... are you discriminating? Of course. But that person isn't being harmed. And if you're the straight guy, you should hardly have to justify your reasons. You just aren't interested, period.

I think you have discrimination mixed up with cultural background. Many cultural backgrounds are not very compatible with other cultures. For example, whites, hispanics, and blacks are raised frequently with different value systems, different goals, and different social interactions. This does affect your decision to date any other individual. Is that discrimination? No, however it may be a prejudice to seek out people of similar backgrounds. That is not a negative prejudice, just a cultural one. Like I might like vanilla ice cream and not like cherry. You might like the opposite. Is that discrimination? No, that is my bias and selection only.

There is no reason to discriminate on race alone.

Discrimination is never right....however, I have never heard of discrimination when dating....you mean one race only dating the same race? Well, why would you date only a female/male? it is preference....or maybe even so far as family would not approve.... I think it would be stupid, you let so much of the rest of the dating possibilities go, but it is some people choice to go by the family wishes....or to just go with their own race....but if they refuse to go with another race...that is wrong

do not positioned your date of start on your resume. (With some exceptions, which incorporates with Federal authorities. jobs, the position it is required). oftentimes, there'll be a job software faster or later, and then they're going to ask on your DOB. putting your DOB on your resume is a mistake, the corporate will imagine you do not realize the employer international, the position such coaching isn't meant to be disclosed at that element. even as there is honestly no regulation about it, the corporate might want to quite you no longer show your age seeing that that would want to open them to an age discrimination accusation.

I'm not sure that it's OK - but there are many problems when contemplating interacial dating. different cultures , value systems, etc. But, mostly it seems to be a black /white issue many people seem to be Ok w/asian /white/black just not black/white. Or maybe it's just a racial purity thing

Well, what could be done about it? Who would be in charge of punishing the wicked? And why would it only be races that would be protected? Why not protect the fat, the boring, the ugly, the bad breathed?

And how could you prove in court that your potential date turned you down because of your color?

Why do we let this go on? Because, people have their own preferences. I'm not attracted to black women, so what? Does that make me racist? No. A lot of people aren't attracted to heavyset individuals yet they're not ostracized for it.
