Atheist here.
I don't think atheism is a choice, it just is.
It's like pretending that, once you know the tooth fairy isn't real, it's still a choice to think it is. Maybe those atheists that are in that state because they've never been indoctrinated into any religion would be the exception, they can still believe in the tooth fairy if indoctrinated.
Those who claim that they are atheist because they hate god, religion, life or the church, those are not atheist.

yep. Atheism is a choice.
I think that because Belief is also a choice. It's called FREE will...you have the freedom to choose to believe, or not;
Atheists choose NOT.
I am not Atheist, btw.

Choosing any path is a choice so to be an Atheist is a choosen path. If I had ever wanted to be a Christian I would have studied, learned about it and made a choice based upon that education. PEACE!

watt... someone up there said that she can't help it if God didn't love her enuff to give her belief. thats some nonsense there... GOd loves your so Much he is giving you free will he can't force you to do something.. YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICES.
for those who choose not to belive in the Lord, that's there choice and decision.

ITS YOUR CHOICe. you know what's in the bible, you have a choice to read the bible you make a choice if you don't want to read the bible. you amke a choice if you don't want to Believe in the Lord God.

Well, remember, these are the same people who think homosexuality is a choice.

Life is all about choices. God gave us all the freedom to choose good or evil. To accept His son Jesus as our savior and spend eternity with them in heaven or not choose Jesus and automatically belong to satan and go to hell.
Why is it so hard to pick a good place to spend eterntiy over a horrible place like hell?

No, we were born that way (normal). As we age we start being afraid and you know the supply and demand economy: you need someone to love and take care of you? There's god! Case closed, business open.

Interesting question. Do you choose to believe what you believe?
I really never thought of it in those terms.
As I do think of it, however, I think no. You choose to investigate, to do some critical thinking, but your belief system evolves out of those decisions.
