that has FIV? My cat has had it all her life and we are looking to get another cat for her companion. The only problem is that in my area they kill all FIV+ cats when caught, the closest place is 1.5 hours from me and they want ALOT of money for their cats.
So I guess my question is if anyone has FIV+ cats with heathy cats? My vet said it is not recommended but I read all over the Net that said it can be done.
I dont want to infect another cat but my cat is lonely!! I need advice and no stupid remarks about putting my cat to sleep becuase that is NOT an option!

I had a FIV+ positive cat. She was the sweetest cat in the world. I understand why some people can't understand why you'd want more cats who can become potentially ill, but people with diseases that can be passed on to their offspring in humans still have that chance.... go for it!!!!

I don't think it's fair to infect another cat and subject it to FIV. If the cats live together it's a very good chance the other cat will get the disease. How do you know your cat is lonely? Why don't you play with your cat more? buy it lots of different toys to keep it occupied, buy a laser light and do more things with your cat. Hire a catsitter to come to your house everyday, but don't give another cat a death sentence. It's cruel.
There's plenty of other options to keep your cat from getting too lonely.

Oh that's so sweet adopting cats with FIV! I imagin that most people don't want them so if you ask the shelter for one I'm positive they'll give you another FIV+ cat!

FIV is cat AIDS. Why didn't you have your cat vaccinated against it and YES THERE IS A VACCINE FOR FIV!!! I wouldn't risk it if I were you and if you ever get another cat have it vaccinated...including against feline leukemia which can be transmitted to chldren as well as against FIV.

Contact a rescue group and tell them you want a positive one. I foster for a rescue group, and we keep a list, so that if we get one that is positive, we still have an opportunity to find it a good home. They will be happy to keep an eye out for you.
