Because real fruit and vegetables ruin after like a few days. Canned food and preserves keep longer so you do not have to buy groceries every few days. And North Americans tend to not sit in their homes 9 hours a day.

not all north americans eat much from cans... some do.
I am north american, you didn't capitalize so I won't either, I eat fresh veggies and other non-can things... I do eat can tuna and some soups but that is because they are convenient and come in small portions... also in cans food can be stored longer so they are good for the emergency preparedness kits we are supposed to keep.

I eat a lot of canned food because it's quicker than cooking. I have time to cook, but a lotta the time I don't shop for things I can make a meal out of and canned things and microwavable things are just a lot easier. They're premade, and there's a wide variety of things to eat. Not at all healthy, but easy. And people like things easy.

I don't eat much canned food.... there's a McDonalds right around the corner. LOL

Seriously though... the only canned foods I eat are soups and vegetables (when fresh one's aren't available, or I don't want to bother).

Um, who says we don't eat real food?

You can't ask a question like this based upon generalities.

Do you mean why do we eat so much fast-food?

Please rephrase the question so it can be understood.

what are you talking about? North America is more about fast-foods and restaurants than canned goods. Besides, this country is more about social life so it has some reasons. But yea, people gotta limit their intakes.

Mainly out of spite. We so much because we don't want anyone else to have any.

Interestingly, we also pay farmers NOT to grow certain kinds and amounts of food.
