God is really a hermaphrodite and has both a penis and vagina so he can make babies.
No, seriously.... our language is totally sexist. Religion is only what we've made of it. In the original Hebrew Torah, God was referred to in the feminine pronoun, "she". This was not because they thought God was female, but this was their way of saying, "it" in their language. The actual name of God was never spoken. There are numerous Biblical references, and also in the Koran, both canonical and apocryphal, which refer to God in ways that could be thought either male or female.
Notice all the posters who said, "God is neither male nor female", all continue to refer to God as "he" or "He", even the Buddhist (or perhaps most notably.) Also notice that in ancient Hebrew, "she" meant "it". One cursory read of the Bible will indicate to you that while females are human, they are second-class humans. The early Christian church even had to debate whether or not women possess souls. Women just barely made it, while animals did not make the cut.
As far as I'm concerned, religion is only a reason to continue sexist persecution far into the future. Our problems run much deeper than the gender of God. This is because men are physically bigger and stronger than women, and can overpower them. It's a case of "might makes right" which has shaped our history as a species for thousands of years. The problem is prejudice based on a legacy of violence and oppression, not God's gender or lack thereof (if there is a god.)

--I do believe that God is masculine. Based on the fact women do not create life. They are basically walking incubators and lifelong nurturers. Women are born with a limited number of embryos, whilst man creates sperm. If men, like women, had a limited number of sperm, we would run out by the time we were 14. As for the Mrs. God? I basically think of the universe as a bed spread the Lord dropped a load on while masturbating.

I think that when you say "man" you mean "male," not "mortal" or "human" and I will ignore your comment about genitalia to offer you a small suggestion.
My perspective is that God is neither male nor female, but is often personified so that humans, with our limited minds compared to his infinite wisdom, can attempt to understand Him.
And the Abrahamic religions are not the only religions to personify /humanize/ anthropomorphize their deity in such a way; many religions conceive of their deities as gods (male) and goddesses (female), even if they come in the form of an animal other than human.
Coincidentally, many believe God is in heaven, so they look to the sky. (What I think is rather sad is that they do not realize his omnipresence.) Other religions also have the belief that the sky/heaven is masculine and potent, and the earth is often thought to be female and nurturing - the giver of life, "Mother Earth." As for the female counterpart to God (He) in the Abrahamic faiths, I do not believe that there is one.

If there is no concept of gender in God why do they call him God the father. I
f men are created in the likeness of God why do we have penises it stands to reason that God has one too. And I thank God every day that women are not created in the likeness of men. (Think for a minute about what that would mean ewww!)

God is spirit so he doesn;'t need a penis or a wife. Actually there's no he or she. Yet we are told we are in his image. So religions are crap-there's no god. See how easy that was? Anyway your question was interesting. Keep up the blasphemies hahahaha

God is spirit and spirit is the ultimate source substance limits and bounds of everything known and unknown. The male female principle is reflected in nature because God is both male and female, Ying & Yang, Beginning & End, Alpha & Omega. We say "he" because on this plain of excistance God is manifested in the sonship degree thru the son. The Male & Female principle came together and that offspring is the Universe just as when a male and female comes together there is offspring. We reflect our creator, he doens't reflect us. YAHWEH the original revealed name relects this principle.
YAH=masculine-One who is
WEH=feminine-Ultimate source.
YAH=Adam WEH=Eve
YAH=Androgen (male sex hormone)
WEH=Estrogen (female sex hormone)

God is no respecter of persons... there is neither male nor female in the body of Christ...
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
