I realize that this section is already a sub-catagory by itself, but wouldn't it be a tad more peaceful if there were other sub-catagories such as "Christian", "Pagan", "Atheist", "Islam", "Buddhist", etc?

That way there would be no more inter-faith bickering and arguing and people could actually get answers to their questions without being lectured from the other group, unless they were looking for a fight, Which in turn would make them look like an idiot anyway.

I'm sure if enough of us say something to the Y!A maintenance (or whom-ever), we could accomplish this.

There would still be bickering. Christians would be invading the other religions to try and "save" them, and athiests would go over to the Christian section to pick on the Christians.

And they probably wouldn't even list my religion. :(

I just suggested subcategories for this section the other day during the YA survey I took. Maybe they'll listen.

Anyway, I don't think it would stop much of the bickering, but it still would bring some order to things. I've noticed that some people on here don't mind looking like an idiot, so there's no way you'll prevent that. But I still think it's a good idea nonetheless.

In theory that sounds ok, but what purpose does it serve. Yes, I agree there is alot of "bickering" on all sides of the fence, but the real aim should be opening up your mind, and learning to respect other people and their beliefs. If we can learn to do that here then maybe we can take it with us when we go out into the world. Alot can be learned on all sides when we listen. I may not like everything I hear but I take what is good and leave the rest.

I think this is a great idea! There sure is a lot of bickering between different faiths! I so hate to see this! Maybe the problem is that there are so many faiths in this world that there would not be enough room for them all and I sure would hate to see if they missed one! That would be so wrong!

That would defeat the whole purpose of the category. It's supposed to be Q&A on religion & spirituality - not a religious gathering spot. There are plenty of forums you can go to if you want a cheering section for your particular religion.

If you can convince Yahoo to create comfort-zones where every sect member can praise his/her god(s), more power to you. But you should still leave this forum intact because it would then be the only one to provide for Q&A about ALL religious & spiritual matters.

I agree it should be sub-categorized but there would still be the bickering because some people aren't happy unless they are tossing insults back and forth.

And this is the place were there should be a little more respect for anothers point of view.
All opinions count so long as they are not rantings.State your case, pass go ,collect 2, and move on.

If that were to happen there would be alot less traffic on the boards. I like the way it is. I ignore the ranters. I have learned a bit about the perspectives of others from my visits here.

I think there would be bickering even with the subcategories. Like "Christian" would have to be further subdivided into Evangelical, Catholic, etc etc etc. Even people who share the same faith would bicker.
