Some birth control methods work better than others. The chart below compares how well different birth control methods work.
The most effective way to prevent pregnancy is not to have sex. (That's called abstinence.) However, within the first year of committing to abstinence, almost a quarter of couples become pregnant because they have sex anyway but don't use protection. So it's a good idea even for people who don't plan to have sex to be informed about birth control.
Couples that do have sex need to use birth control properly and every time to prevent pregnancy. For example, the chart below shows that the birth control pill can be effective in preventing pregnancy. But if a girl forgets to take her birth control pills, then this is not an effective method for her. Condoms can be an effective way to prevent pregnancy, too. But if a guy forgets to use a condom or doesn't use it correctly, then it's not an effective way for him to prevent pregnancy.
For every 100 couples using each type of birth control, the chart shows how many of these couples will get pregnant within a year. The information shown is for all couples, not just teenage couples. Some birth control methods may be less effective for teen users. For example, teenage girls who follow the rhythm method may have a greater chance of getting pregnant than grown women because their bodies have not yet settled into a regular menstrual cycle.

The only way that you can 100% prevent yourself from getting pregnant is to not have intercourse at all. But, use a condom and take birth control. The combination of those two things will lower your chances, but they do not guaruntee you will not get pregenant (condom could tear if not used properly, etc). Even if you use a condom, there are still a lot of STDs that you can get. Make sure that you know for sure that your partner is clean. Many people can have an STD without having symptoms, and it could get passed to you!

Okay here it goes....
You go to the doctor and get an IUD, he goes to the doctor and gets a vasectomy. Learn your cycle and completely avoid any physical contact with each other during your ovulation days and when you aren't ovulating he wears a condom....oh and it wouldn't hurt to use a diaphram too just to be on the safe side! Seriously, all it takes is one little bitty sperm with some ambition and a little sense of direction! Good luck.

Use a condom.
Use a contrceptive of some other form. - spermicidal jelly, foam, sponge, IUD, diaphram, the pill.
The best option for many people is to just use a condom - not only protects you from pregnancy, but also from sexually transmitted diseases.

condums AND birth control, or get a hysterectomy or whatever. I was on birth control and still got pregnant. Condums aren't even as good as birth control. Give you an idea?

birth control
condoms
diaphragm
spermicidal foam
don't let him finish inside you
do all of the above together and you should be safe... but remember, you must be on the pill for at LEAST ONE MONTH for it to be effective!! And it is something you take continuously, not only when you want to.
