Afraid of eternity?
I'm a Christian,
and I know I'm going to Heaven,
but im deathly afraid of,
um well,
death.
and etiernity,
like FOREVER.
it scares me to think that some people will go FOREVER in hell.
and well frankly just thinking of how long forever is scares the crap outta me.
Anybody know what to do about this fear of mine?
And does anybody else have the same kind of fear?
P.S. No stupid answers like "who cares" or anything like that, okay? I would really like you to answer my question.

Okay to the David guy.
And whoever else agreed/read what he said.
Okay I have read the Bible and sorry i phrased that wrong.
I believe in God and i am an active christian, went to christian schools all my life christian camps, and i understand what God wants you to do or believe to get into heaven. I do believe Jesus died on the cross, and rose from the dead. I completely believe that. I know you can't work your way to Heaven. Just wanted to clear that up. I guess i just phrased it wrong and no i don't need to know what humility is.

Hmm...lectures on being humble. Am I quirky or does the irony in that leave anyone else blinking in disbelief?
Anyway, the original question: Welcome to the world of doubt. There are lots of reasons to be scared of death if you haven't been given the opportunity to consider what it means outside of belief in an afterlife. What if there is no heaven/hell/reincarnation/etc.? What would that do to the way you think of death and even more, of life?
This kind of doubt is already sprouting in you, and you can cultivate it or let it go. Either way, I hope that your time on this earth is less troubled by the fear than brightened by the excitement of your moment here.

Sorry. Your a Christian and you know you are going to heaven?
Read your bible again. It is not guaranteed and your question suggests that not only do you not understand the rules for getting into heaven but that you will be bitterly disappointed and suffer from burnt feet.
Go back to your bible and learn what humility means!!!!!

I am also a Christian but sometimes I fear death also. However, we have Christ's assurance that if we trust in him, we will spend eternity with him. Blessed assurance. What more do we need? To feel more assured and to get to know him better you should spend time reading the book of John. God Bless you.

Maybe you are more afaid of the actual 'dying' than eternity. If you know you are going to Heaven, there is nothing to be afraid of. Read the descriptions of heaven in the bible, who would be afraid to spend eternity there? When you are in love with Jesus, there is no fear of spending eternity with Him.

I was feeling the same way you were in terms of being afraid of eternity. I always felt that I would either be ending up in hell for the rest of eternity but then I thought, I don't want to live like that, worrying that every mistake I make is going to make me go to hell. I pray for my mistakes and sins and now, I am not worrying about that.

I'm probably going to Hell. I believe in Jesus yet I don't go to church or actively worship. So, yeah I am afraid of eternity. Either darkness or fire awaits me. Either way it doesn't look good. All I can hope for is that I have time to ask for forgiveness before I die.

If you have gone to God in The Way He proscribs and you "know" you have recieved your Salvation... then you may release your fears to God... you are saved and have no need to fear as you state...

I believe in life after death and reincarnation, but I hate to think that when my physical body dies, there will still be something carrying on afterwards. I just want to stop! I also believe that we might become sparks of pure energy though, without thought processes or feelings, and this belief is the one I hold on to.

Well, as Christians, when we die we go right to heaven. So, unless you are afraid of heaven, there is NO reason to be afraid! God bless!
