He needs to get over it. I would much rather have that happen to me than the police not be thurough and letting more criminals go and possibly hurt others.

That is terrible. They should compensate in some way or another. I believe there is a thin line between invading someone else's privacy, and being cautious. Some take it to the extreme which is wrong. Whats sad is that I know of so many instances where somebody was picked on for no reason by police and when I say "picked on" I am using it lightly.

Why did they search his vehicle? Did they have probable cause? If so, then he can do nothing. If he was illegally detained and searched it is a volation of his civil rights and he may have some recourse on a federal level.
However, it is difficult to prove if:
A) He has a criminal record (It may be wrong, but that's the way it is)
B)A vehicle matching his was involved in a recent crime
C)He committed a suspicious act that may have endangered officers or the public (Reaching suddenly, etc.)
D)He was observed committing a criminal act
If any of these occured it will be difficult to establish procedural violations by law enforcement.

yes, they do. UNless they didn't give him a reason. His car may have been reported stolen, may have been phoned in by multiple citizens. Police don't make habits of doing that to someone for no reason. It's not a game to them, they aren't practicing for the real thing. Police are prestigious people (most of them) and that is WHY they apologized to him. There was a REASON for it even though you may not understand it. Yes, it sucks, but they didn't do it to humiliate him. Please understand that. They were doing their job, what they thought was protecting someone or something obviously.

im guessing this was only a "procedure" the police has to follow when a country is tormented by bombs and terrorists.
u need to let go of a few rights if u wish to survive sometimes,
and no ur frend was not humilated, he would be humilated if he was stripped and then left a mile away from his car !

Yes they do, its not a matter of embarressment its a matter of saftey. Its for your own saftey and the saftey of the police officers. The quicker you cooperate the faster the search is done and you can go on your way, no harm no foul. Its all about saftey and nothing else.

Many people saw him in that condition and they will see him the other day free and happy... this itself is the answer to the people that he isn't a criminal or a bad guy...
The Cops do their work and they have a particular way of doing it... Let them do their Job
