Hi I have thick curly hair that is about 5 inches below my shoulders and I would really like to chop it all off and have a new look, maybe somewhat a mandy moore cut-- in her longer stage of course--- any suggestions or experiences that should change my mind?

i have curly hair as well and have been currently keeping like right at my shoulders and then obviously on really hot and humid days it gets up near my chin. i like it this length. it's just long enough to pull up. my favorite hair product for curly hair is garnier fructis curl shaping mousse (green bottle). if you're just looking for a change and are a bit nervous on a cut, how about dying it? loreal has some really funky colors, like an orange and fuschia. i've done the fuschia about 6 times and LOVE it. it does not stay in all that long, but it's fun. i'd recommending just doing chunks of hair, b/c it's is pretty dramatic. have fun.

If you are going to go really short, make sure the stylist puts alot of texture into the cut.. this will break up some of the curl. Also buy a wax or a pomade to control it.

Curly hair can be really cute short if it is done right

in case your hair is thick and curly and also you've were given about quarter-hour to spend each morning on your hair, use a moisturizing shampoo and a product talked about as "gelee'" by using Biolage. Its a very moisurizing and smooth gel like product that does no longer make your hair frizzy. It also received't flake or gunk up once you wash your hair. For acceptable outcomes blow dry on low with a difuser on your hairdryer after making use of this product. its about 12.00 yet lasts a lengthy time period. yet another good one is BEDHEAD HEADRUSH that is a shine spray. It doesnt make your hair oily yet supplies it major shine and keeps away frizz and flyaways.

I have curly hair, and I got brave enough to chop mine off once- loved it... Just make sure whatever you do, have layers put in it. Curly hair ends up looking like a big triangle if it's all left 1 length... good luck, and remember- IT WILL GROW BACK, SO HAVE FUN!

I have naturally thick curly hair. I keep mine cut short (with layers) to a little past my ears right befoe my chin starts. So easy to maintain and style - wash and go and looks great all the time.

Curly hair has a mind of its own! If you go short it simplifies things. Plus your shorter hair will probably go curlier because it doesn't have the weight of the long hair pulling out the curl. Just fluff/pick and go. I sometimes dampen mine to get the curls tighter.

You need straight hair to pull off a Mandy Moore, are you willing to straighten every day??

get a layered look and make sure they don't go too short so you can still pin it back a little! that would probably look pretty cute. But be forewarned, it you have a chubby face (like my apple- like chipmonk cheeks..) shorter hair accents that..
