If you like the car, take it to a mechanic or dealership and have it checked out. I have a 95 Saturn SL1 that had 125k miles on it when I sold it 4 years ago. I needed some thing bigger. I got $1,250 for it. It used a little oil, about a half a quart between oil changes, every 3 months. I got 30 mpg in town and about 40 mpg on the highway. The wife had a 96 Saturn SL2 intil the kids started doing sports, then she got a mini-van. The kids are done with sports, but she still has the van, I've got a 2002 Saturn Vue now, It has all the toys. The wife says her next car will be a VUE. You could say that we love Saturns.

The mileage is right for that old of a car. Saturn's have aluminum heads. If the oil is coming from the top of the motor. Do not even call this person back. I still think $1,500 is to much. I bought a Saturn for my son 6 months ago. 1996 with 56000 miles for only $2,000 dollars.
Keep looking, a good deal will show up.

You are over paying for a car that is 12 years old. Check the blue book value. If is using a little oil you will be buying extra oil or a new head gasket. Plus if you are hit you will only ger what the car is worth. And if you hit someone who has a more expensive car you are paying out of pocket. You would waist money on insurance more than liability. Look at the bigger picture. If you are going to buy a used car go for the more dependable ones.

A car that's 12 years old is way too old and with that many miles on it, it's not worth the trouble. My suggestion is to buy a much newer car with alot less milege on it. You will likely have less problems than with a car that has seen it's days. Good luck.

You'll end up spending another $1,500 to get the car fixed within a few miles from now...so just go out and buy a $3,000-$3,500 car with less miles.

a 4 door saturn that same year would run 2400 at a dealer. saturns are awesome cars and last forever but you should look into a newer car if u want something that is gonna last longer. good luck.

sounds good...but in my opinion..i think the car is too old with that many miles. i don't know anything about cars, but i know it has way too many miles. i'm sure, if you are patient, you can find something with less miles, newer year, for the same amount of money. i did!!
