Good news....
YES, you will get over him!!
Bad news....
It's going to take a while!!
Good news....
You CAN do something about shortening the time it takes!!
Get him out of your life all together. You may not have to do it forever, but you DO have to until your heart has time to heal. Each relationship is different as well as the two people in it. Some people HAVE to do more than others to get over someone or a certain person.
Getting him out of your life means:
1. Don't contact him and be unavailable if he contacts you.
2. Don't ask other people how he is doing and what he's doing.
3. Get rid of anything that reminds you of him; pictures, scents (perfume, etc.), his phone number, etc.
4. Get involved in activities you both haven't done together to keep your mind off of him (sports, clubs, reading, movies, etc.)
My recent breakup was with someone I only saw briefly, but fell in love with. I'm applying the same principles as much as I can, more and more. It definitely helps to stay busy. Take care of yourself and I hope this all helps.!!

Its obvious that you are not over him and still would like to take him back. Maybe you should try to remember why you both broke up in the first place. If those factors are still around then it still wouldn't work today. He is obviously over you since he has a new lady...maybe you need to get out and find someone else to date as well...or a hobby of some sort..Good Luck

hopefully!
it just takes time. i was with my ex for 6 years. we have been broken up for almost a year. we were 6 weeks away from our wedding when i called it off. he's a great guy, but also an alcoholic, and i decided i couldn't live my life like that..and heaven forbid i bring children into a situation like that.
anyway, i am not over it yet...i am dating a new guy, and he's incredible, but i still think about my ex. after 6 years, he was a huge part of my life! it just takes time...
good luck.

You will get over him once you let go. When two people break up that should be the end of that. Continuing to stay "friends" and keeping in contact with him only hurts you. It's best for you to let him go and move on. That's the only way you will heal yourself. It will happen in time but unless you stop all contact with him then you might never get over him.
Good luck to you! I hope that you get over him and that you find happiness in your life.

Your not over him because you still talk to him. Why would you do that ? He even lives with someone else now. Why torture yourself like that ? As long as you talk to him and know about the things going on in his life, you wont move on. Your actions are not helping you get over him, its like your waiting for him to come back.

I'm not over my ex yet but I only was with her 2 years. Its been about 6 months now and I'm not really over her yet, but she plays mind games with me to get what she wants yet.

Doesn't sound like you're trying to get over him. Get him out of your mind, focus on other things. Go out on dates! You'll see that he's not the "be all , end all" of all men. Good luck!

just because other people think that you should be over him sure in heck doesn't give them that right to say that to you at all. you gave him 8 yrs of your life to him so those people don't have a clue until it happens to them. you will find mister right sooner or later.

I think that you'll probally never totally forget him, and you probally always feel somthing for him. But everything turns out, and one day you'll find somone that you love and he loves you back. It just takes time. Probally more time than you would like, but it'll will turn out better for you.
