Well just think about gas prices are going up. Plus it depends where you live, gas can be between $2.85 to $3.50 a gallon. So if you want a great gas mileage, I would buy a Honda Insite or a Toyota Prius. A Insite gets 70mpg city and 75mpg on hwy. A Pruis gets 40mpg city and 50mpg hwy. Both vehicles are a hybrid. Now if you want to go for speed I suggest a motorcycle. You still get great gas mileage but a whole lot of speed. But if you want speed from a car there are lots of fast cars out there and I dont know what kind you like. Now for your other question about what is a hybrid. A hybrid is a vehicle that has a seperate gas engine and a electric engine. The electric engine runs the vehicle until around 25 to 30 mph and then the gas engine then starts up and runs after that. This is how you get great gas mileage. I hope this helps you out.

Apparently the cost difference is not worth it unless you actually own the car for 5-6 years, and even then you only end up about $500 ahead. If you take the increase in cost for the vehicle itself into consideration, you aren't really saving money. If you are doing it for environmental reasons, then it is probably a smart choice.

it works on battery & gas...
Batter is mainly for start out & low power cruising.
I worked on ride & drives for Mercury & their hybrid was fairly peppy. It actually got better mileage around town than highway because of the battery power!
