What an interesting question! I'm a sniffer, poker, and a looker! sometimes you can't tell just by smelling, or looking or poking, sometimes you just have to do all 3 or take it right off!

I'm a peeker... pull the back of the diaper out and check... of course you sometimes have to deal with the repercussions of whatever is in the diaper being up to the back as has happened to me on a few occasions where then you need to clean your finger before you can even pick them up to change them... lol maybe i should stick to the sniff method....

Depends...I do the steps in the order as follows:
Look (if it's not saggin, proceed to step 2)
Poke (if it feels squishy in front, I go to back & poke, if not squishy back there, proceed to 3)
Sniff (if you can't tell if it they were just "talkin" crap or if they were "doin" crap [ie farts] go to final step)
Peek (tip the baby over slightly & pull the diaper to the side.)
By the final step, you know for sure if their business has been done. It's not quite as hard just routinely changing a wet diaper :D

Oh, I'm definitely a sniffer. Sometimes I don't even have to pick them up to sniff...the scent wafts over to me. LOL

I was a sniffer and a peeker. I didn't poke unless I sniffed first.

If I am checking for a wet diaper I poke outside of the diaper. If I'm checking for a dirty diaper, I sniff.

LOL I"m trying to remember! Most of the time I did'nt need to sniff as I recall.I was a touch (the outside)see if it's soggy feeling kind of a mom.

Poker...when it's time to change a smelly diaper, you usually don't have to get too close to smell...it stinks up the whole room.

I dare say... never "poke" your finger into a diaper...you may not like what you find!!!! I am a sniffer!!!!!!!!!!!!
