Why don't more people donate their time and money to great causes?

I started a website to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Soicety and I have sent out letters, email, and personally asked people to donate and no one seems to care and I don't understand how you could not care about something as important as finding a cure for blood cancer. Do I just not know the right people? I mean check out this website: http://www.active.com/donate/hfdga/robreka11 I think it is a great cause...

Legitimacy is an issue for me sometimes. Unfortunately some people have take advantage of raising support and have kept money for themselves, misused the money given, etc. I also am selfish, like many other people. I'm on a tight budget, etc. I mean, lots of reasons could be used. Bottom line is that it should be done more.

There are already cures for Leukimia but it is not in the best interest of the Leukemia & Lymphoma to address the cure that are out there.

Many people have a full plate with just taking care of their own family matters, and simply don't have the time, nor resources to help.. Others which have the resources may be greedy and selfish, and don't want to get involved.

Because they are too busy donating to causes that in their immediate circle of life

Sometimes, other people don't have the priorities that you think they should.

Sometimes people don't have as much discretionary income as you think they do.

Sometimes people who call for others to be charitable haven't given so much as a dime to charity themselves.
