Yeah, I've read a lot of sources which also claim that Jesus studied for several years in the "East," possibly India and that he researched a lot of material from Buddhist and Hindu sources. The Gnostic sects which were wiped out by the "mainstream" Christianity of the day (Constantine et al, about AD 300 thereabouts) contained some of the teachings and "Gospels" of Christ claimed to have originated from his sojourn in the east.

If you search the net you will come across some of the Gnostic texts which have been recovered during the 20th century. If your religious beliefs permit you to explore different claims about Christ and his background, you will find the Gnostic writings extremely interesting. They held a very different view point about Jesus' teachings and message, much less "faith and salvation" based and much more similar to the Buddhist philosophical style.

He had traveled to the east to learn from the eastern masters. When he learned from them he came back as an enlightened master. It was only after he returned "home" that he was made a rabbi and a teacher. His methods were not of traditional judaism of the time and that is what part of the problem with the rabbi's there was. He practiced meditation, not a jewish action.
