The answer is simple. We got corn from the Native Americans, they being much smarter than us used this plains growing weed to feed to us so we were easy to track down. (i.e. the corn in the poop)

It's insoluble fiber, so it just goes through you. It's good for you, as it acts like a scrubber, going through your system. Other types of fiber are partially soluble, so it breaks down some. This also acts like a scrubber, although not as well. In culinary school, they were referred to as big scrubber and little srubber. It was also referred to as 'corn in, corn out'. Funny, eh?

You know this is a universal question..it looks the same going in and coming out...ha ha...well think about it..it is pretty tough and because it is pure roughage and great fiber it doesn't have much to digest so it goes out pretty quick...

Corn is in a different food group, it is neither a fruit or a vegetable, but a starch. I guess that is why.
