I think maybe all the Pagan questions would be better asked in the Mythology and Folkore section? Maybe the fundies wouldn't harass us as much there?

Technically all religion is mythology. It's all about archetypal beings -- that represent God. It don't believe that would be downplaying anything.

I'm not implying that we aren't a religion. I was just suggesting it. I don't think it's running away either. I just get frustrated when people are genuinely interested in learning something about it and all of the Christians try to tell them they will go to Hell. I just wish they had a place to ask questions where they would get more REAL answers.

I am not running, I was just hoping to find a more peaceful place to help those who are genuinely curious about who we are and what we do.

I am not afraid of the fundies myself. I can handle them. So, yes. I can handle the heat, and I find that comment very offensive since it doesn't speak much for your character.

LOL Good point, Tirya -- message boards get enough trolls as it is already without our help!

I disagree. My spiritual path isn't Mythology, nor is it Folklore - it's a Religion and it's Spirituality.

The fundies and their ranting don't bother me. And maybe somewhere along the line someone will learn something that helps them along the way.

My religion and my beliefs are nothing to be ashamed of. To leave because of harassment would only be reinforcing the misconception that it's "wrong".

(edited to add:)

There are places to go where those who are interested in actually learning something can get information. Yahoo has never been one of those places, and Yahoo!Answers is no different.

If someone is looking for a forum to discuss Paganism and is truly looking for answers, I would be more than happy to offer recommendations. I won't post a link up here, though, because the boards that I am referring to don't deserve the harassment that would ensue...!!

A catatgory for Paganism/ Heathenry, with sub catagories for the seperate pagan/ heathen religions, doesn't sound like a bad idea, but don't think for one minute that would keep the fundies at bey. Never let anything those idiots( fundies) say get you down, just push it aside.
You'll never change how they view us, and it's best not even dignify their comments with a response. Just ignore them, and let them their lives in their prejudice ignorance, and keep trying to educate the rest of the world. Some Christians are opened minded enough to listen what we have to say.

If we pagans gave the religion/spirituality section over to the secular religions then they would believe that our Religion is all mythology and would not take us seriously and would only fuel the preconcieved misconseptions we try to correct. I see it as a place for us to educate or at least try to lift the veil of lies that has been told by thier religious leaders about us. What we practice is a recognized religion within the federal government, so we have every right to be here. On answers and to practice.

You still get harassed over there, too, unfortunately. I learned that from experiance.

There needs to be sub-catagories under his one like "Atheist", "Pagan" and "Christian", etc. Then there wouldn't be any more lecturing from the other group unless someone was looking for a fight.

Additionally, the others are right, my Pagan faith is just as valid as theirs. I'm not going to leave for the mythology section just because they can't follow what Jesus said and tolerate my beliefs.

The secret to really getting under their skin is telling that they aren't following their Bible or Jesus by being critical. Thus, they aren't real Christians and will go to hell just as much as they think I will. Hah, they hate that logic.

I see where the question is coming from. One does tire of constant bickering, don't you think? Discussion and different viewpoints are both inevitable, but it doesn't have to turn into a brawl. Sometimes I too would like to see this as a place less about "us against them" than about actual understanding and seeking. I doubt you're going to find that place in another category--at least not when talking about religion.

Funny, you'd think the "religious and spiritual" people would be calmer and more evenhanded than the rest of YA, but it's just the opposite!

I accept as true with you, even to the degree that I ensue to be a state chairman of the Pagan unity marketing campaign. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, it particularly is not lots a Yahoo difficulty, Yahoo isn't being people who're disciminating against pagans. Yahoo is truthfully particularly accomidating in the direction of the pagan community, have been for years. the undertaking is with different shoppers in this talk board who're illiberal of alternative religions. a number of them, with countless debts each and each, document abuse on a similar question, answer, or consumer to objective to get them deleted till that individual appeals the violation. there are maximum of abuse comments an afternoon that yahoo canot shop up with examining all of them, so there's a equipment in place to automaticly delete after maximum of comments. If a number of you woul choose to, click the debate board button on the suitable, you will see a topic rely for freshen up the religion and Spirituality classification, and a topic rely submit via me entitled faith and Spirituality question and answer Deletions. Please submit your innovations and comments in there for yahoo to confirm and doubtless make some recommendations approximately what could be carried out approximately it. BB, Lord AmonRaHa

Hey, this section is called the Religion & Spirituality section.

In NO place did they specify WHICH Religion or Spirit we could or could not ask about.

Since Peganism IS a Religion, it should be allowed to be represented in it's rightful section.

So keep your Questions right here, honey, 'cos someone's gotta compete with all these Christians somehow.

PEGANS UNITE!

I think the questions should stay right where they are. We have just as much right to be in this section as the fundies do. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our beliefs and those who would judge us and berate us only show their own ignorance.

Paganism is a religion, so it's in the correct place.

And by the way, what makes you think pagans don't harass us as much in this section?

OH, and my religion isn't about a myth, but about a real, living God.

I understand why you would like to take things elsewhere, but I'm staying. If we leave and a new person came onto the R&S board asking questions about pagan faiths, who will answer and how accurate will the answer be? Nice thought, but I'm not budging.
