I find this fascinating. What kind of sick ******* "creator" would damn his "creations" to an eternity of torture? And the sick ******* christians who happily tell you your going to end up there...the hubris makes my head hurt....

If Gods as much of a git as most Religions make out, then when I get to the pearly gates I'm gonna see how many times I can head butt him 'til Gabriel and St Peter drag me off.
I kinda hope that Mother Teresa will be trying to hold me back crying; "it's not worth it, leave him, it's not worth it".
If any of the "god" nonsense is real, lets hope the Big Man's gotta sense of humour... or I'm up to my earlobes in do do.

good for Serf - i agree with you -
my question would be : why is all the selfproclaimed Atheists so consistently trying to convince everybody else that there is no God ? And there is no heaven of hell ?
Because deep down, they know the truth , just not ready to do away with the things of the world and try to live a sinless life (nobody can compeletely ) but hey...we as christians realy try !

I believe in hell -- as the just consequences for a person's life and actions -- the amount of pain and suffering they caused in the live of others, either by their action or their inaction.
In the Christian Hell, the punishment will fit the crime -- so that Justice is served.
--
My background: I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John

It's astoundingly funny! I love torturing idiots! If I'm wrong on Pascal's Wager. I saw hell on South Park and they had condo's by the river Styx and a Tiki party.
I tell this to Christian's. You should see the incredulous looks on their faces. I bright red man with hooved feet and a bifurcated tail reeking of sulfur is going to torture me forever because I don't believe Jesus was god? Oh, burn me and stab me with your trident.
That seems logical.

What kind of creator would give you free will and then demand that you worship him? What a con job that is.
Then again, an omnipotent, omniscient deity is a complete paradox in a world of free will. Religion makes no sense.
There is no hell. It's just a scare tactic.

I think it's relative. Fire and brimstone is a metaphor. To not go to Heaven is to be eternally damned. Also, how would you feel if you had a child that cursed you and was basically evil? Maybe wouldn't feel so bad about throwing them out of your house. People do it all the time.

That is because they do not understand God or the Scripture. There is no hell in the bible it is a mistranslation of 4 different words Sheol, Gehenna, Tatarus, and Hades. I am a christian and would never believe in a religion that believed in the concept of hell. As we are required to love our enemies, may we not safely infer that God loves His enemies? (Matt. 5:44)

Hell is likely the result of the wishes of unjustly wronged people hoping that the next life is more just.

Whether you claim to be Christian or Atheist, heaven and hell was invented by the chrurch to keep people under control. No one knows what will happen at death. It doesn't matter what you did in your liftetime we are all the same in death.
