Why would god want me to suck up to him while I was alive and then even more after I was dead? Is he that much of an egomaniac that he wants everyone to constantly worship even after they are dead? Don't you ever get a break?

Well, the thing is, you give your life to Jesus while you're still on earth. And then when you die, you get a new life in heaven. So you don't get the same life back, you get a better one!
God bless!

You are debating over a subject that man just can't seem to grasp . God is offering a new life in a incorruptible body that will never get sick or hurt or suffer in any kind of way . Worshiping Him will be enjoyable , not a burden . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved and become a part of a much larger family where you will be loved by all . John 14:6 Jesus came and died for us and went through excruciating pain and suffering beyond all comprehension . He is our Savior . Praise Him ! God bless you

We are not "sucking up" to God in this life or next. What we are suppose to be doing in this life is trying to live a Christ-like life as His believers and followers. The Bible explains how this is done, but we as humans continually fall short of His divine will, but He is a forgiving and loving God.

If you give your life to God, you will never be the same. The Bible says that if we confess with our mouth and believe in our hearts that Jesus (the son of God) died for the remission of our sins, was buried and rose with all power in heaven and earth, then you shall be saved.

Read Romans Chapter 10. It explains what you are seeking. But don't stop there, continue to read. Also, you can go to allaboutgod.com

No, in fact it is the other way around.
We took everything that God gives for granted.
Like a little children took granted for their parent's love and care.

God gives His love constantly to humankind, everyone.
He gives us sun to shine and rain to pour on everyone so we can have food to eat. He give the air that we breathe without prejudice. All creation which are His are given to mankind to be enjoyed.

So, until we understand that God loves us so much, there is no point in worshiping Him. It is unnatural. But the good news is, He is love and He wants to share His love to everyone.

Go to church. God is your father, it's not sucking up to him it's respecting him. He loves us no matter what we have done. He's the one that provides everything you need in life. He's the one that put's ideas in others minds to help us when we need it. He finds us shelter, food, clothing, and even some of the fun stuff that we just want. And you want a break from that.

No breaks for you !!!

In Ezekiel or maybe it's Daniel, it talks of creatures who are created for the sole purpose of chanting day and night for eternity "Holy, Holy, Holy" before the throne of god.

Who would want that gig???

I never understood why this guy needs all this adulation. Of course, the believers say they enjoy all this worshipping but I'm not buying that. I used to be one and hated it. It all felt so artificial.

If my kids called me every day and thanked me for something, day in and day out, I would change my number

I think that you have a misconception of God. The reason God wants to run our lives is that he can do a better job of it than we can. God cares for you and wants to help you live your life to the fullest potential and to keep you from any un-necessary pain.

Since God is smarter than we are, why not listen to him? He is the ultimate consultant.

Luke 18:28-30 (NIV)
Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"

"I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life."

Matthew 16: 25-26 (NIV)
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

I do not know what God you are talking about , but plz if it is Jesus, The Father and the Holy Spirit - DO not talk this way about my Lord and Saviour - funny thing is, you might say this now, but you will bow one day - in front of this very God that you are accusing of egomania- HE does not want ANYONE to suck up to Him - i do not have to spell this out to you....you do the math, like they say......God bless you -

Sounds to me as though you have a misconception of God in your mind.

As a Christian I do not "suck up" to God because I feel obligated to. It's not a demand of God, as you seem to imply; Rather, expressing love and gratitude is something that one feels compelled to do toward someone else that sacrificed themselves on their behalf, and given them a priceless gift to top it all off.

If you try swimming across a massive river and peter out halfway across thinking to yourself, "Well this was a stupid idea", then a man on shore sees you floundering and jumps in to rescue you carrying you close enough to shore that you can complete the swim, but he drowns before making it back himself, I suspect that any normal person would be very greatful for his sacrifice. In fact, I'd wager that when you heard someone talking smack about him you'd be inclined to set them straight in his defence.

So Christ is the guy who rescued us, and died in the process, then when we got home we found out that he willed his mansion and ferrari to us before he died. So in a nutshell, I think God RULES and want to set you straight for implying that He's an egomaniac.

Sounds like you don't know Him well enough to be making that call. A little jaded perhaps?
