You can't blame everything on the British. They became successful after living in a country that lacked diamonds and oil, so clearly that isn't essential for success, also, not all the naturally resources of Africa were taken and the land is naturally very fertile. If it were managed well, there would be no hunger there. Of course there were negative effects of colonisation, but the British give millions of pounds to help solve the problem of poverty in Africa, so we have also benefitted the people. You are being completely biased, other problems such as corrupt governments have also caused the poverty not just its past.

If you actually think about it, it wasn't just the British, it was mainly the people who moved to America, which wasn't just the British, it was a lot of other Europeans, like the Spanish, Italians, Hungarians, Dutch, French. Plus, it wasn't like the Americans (shall we say, as they were the majority) kidnapped them, their own people sold them for weapons, and other such stuff, so don't just blame white people.

Also, looking at the present now, their governments are full of corruption. You'll see their Presidents living the big life, while their people slave away, getting next to nothing for pay. It's their governments who should be paying back into the community.

Anyway, before the white people went over there, the people were living how they basically live now. And, they have so many civil wars in Africa, it's no wonder they are worse off.

All who benefit from the misfortunes of many Africans can point the finger to themselves. Not just the British, but probably you and I too. I mean do you like chocolate, exotic fruits, do you wear gold or things? It definitely is a shame that weapons make it to Africa, machinery to strip the resources make it there, but not the food for body and thought. And meanwhile a lot of people justify that by saying that Africans are too stupid to do it themselves. Really they aren't but for the most part they are locked out of the business and marketing networks. The same reason why Haiti which once was the most prosperous colony of the French made it so poorly after the blacks took over. They didn't have the network and access to the market to sell their product.

You can't point the finger at anyone it's a problem that needs to be solved by everyone not just the British or the Americans. We all need to give a hand and help out African country's they have so much potential and I believe if we can somehow give them a kick start they will become a real powerful economic feature in say 100 years time.

In the past yes.
But bolicks to blaming us now. We do more than anyother country to help those in need around the world, not just Africa.
For example, the Tsunami, UK's goverement gave over 58 Million pounds to the relief effort. That is in comparision to a higher popultaed and supposeddly richer America who gave an insulting 16 million.
Then the british Citizen out of their own pockets gave above and beyond that what was expected.
Many individuals and groups dedicate their lifes to helping Africa.
We Gave Africa their independance back. But we still help them.
As a country they are not independant on us, they still rely on the help of westernerds (not just uk obv)
How can you balme the britsh people for causing poverty. Slavery was an awful thing to do, uncomprehensable. But not many people would dream of doing that now.
Oh and Black people were not getting education before we got their, they do know, and mostly out of our help. Western countries trained their teachers and docters. I know it was a hard way to get to it. But in the long run we have helped them immensely. Our debt for what we did do, has definately been repayed.
And i would also liek to point out that there are racist Balck groups in Africa who think nothing of killing and raping Brits over there? Racism works both ways.

don't forget the dutch colonised Africa and France had parts of it too but yes the whole world should be responsible for what is happening ,babies dying of aids the trouble in Rwanda ,Nigeria and Robert Mugabe's ,we need a world conscious that doesn't allow anymore suffering. If someone was sitting in the street starving and you walked past him everyday watching him get weaker and thinner then you had a party and just through out all the food that was left over without inviting him to take as much as he wanted would you be responsible for that.

No. The poverty in Africa is because the Brits aren't there anymore. The problem comes from Africa being given it's "independence". Now the rulers are ruthless, selfish, etc. and don't give a shi* about the welfare of the country.

I think you should look things up before asking bloody stupid questions. Did you know that certain African tribes sold slaves to Arabs well before the Brits came along? That certain tribes raided other tribes for slaves to sell? Did you know that after slavery was "abolished" that there was an imaginery line drawn, below which people in the States could obtain slaves and the Europeans could not touch them? If they did it was considered an act of war. No of course you didn't otherwise you would be wiser and less an idiot

No. The UK is a long way away from Africa. The Africans are responsible for the poverty in Africa.

they're only in poverty because there are better of them than the land can help. Poverty is a organic way of protecting the inhabitants down. Westerners realized this in round 3000 BC. they pick to sparkling up their personal issues. i do no longer blame God, I blame them. in case you gamble you money away, is it the authorities's fault?
