Love older muscle cars myself but they are very unpractical to own and drive. Very risky. But at the same time you need something sporty but not a complete waste of money. So the one obvious choice would be the new corvette. Best sports car for the money and usually most corvettes u see driven around town are more established men. Beautiful long lasting car that has good road manners but still the looks and performance. Cant go wrong with anything that is 550 hp (new ones) and still drives like a nice car.

depends on your budget;
LOW - Miata, Mutsang GT Convertible, Pontiac Solstice
MID - Porsche Boxter, 350Z Convertible, Corvette
High - Porsche 911 Carerra Convertible, Viper, Ferarri, Lambo etc...
There is a definite theme, a mid-life crisis car better be a convertible or it is a waste. cause these cars arent about speed as much as style and the fun factor.
And if any of these dont do, get a motorcycle license and get a Harley Davidson Screamin Eagle Fat Boy. That oughta get your blood pumping!

What is the price limit?
For $90K-$110K - Porsche Carrera S....so expensive....so impracticle
$50-$60K - Corvette, hands down
under $50K - Infiniti G35 Coupe, Nissan Z, or Ford Mustang GT........The Mustang is a steal at around $30K.
Don't listen to anyone who says a 50 year old should drive a Honda Fit.

You lived through most of the muscle car impact. If you like them get one that is custom or original, but make it one you either had and want again or wish you had back then.
You also seen most of the ones you like come and go, so I would suggest something you can see and dream of yourself driving. My crisis car is a 1970 Plymouth GTX coupe or convertible. Steel blue with buckets and counsel, auto or upgraded 6spd. Small ghost flames on the lower panel going back to the lower quarter panel. I want it custom with upgraded brakes, tires, and tranny. A fuel injected 440 with hemi heads. Chromed OUT throughout and leather interior.
That's my dream, what is yours?

Go seek thearapy, then buy an age appropriate car,and don't try to make up for shortcomings in other ways. Women don't go out and buy a mid-life crisis car,we have responsibilities,if you have none, then buy a motorcycle and be a real man,lol

Jaguar. You never have to explain what model it is or say anything more about it. Every woman knows the name, and after all, isn't a mid-life crisis mostly about trying to assure yourself that you are still attractive to women?

I would think it is convertible. Audi A4, BMW 3 or 6 Series, Mercedes CLK. There are some US cars, but they are not so cool as Euro. Oh, Mini Cooper is nice too.
If you like SUV, go with VW Touareg. I own it and it is super cool!
One thing - they are all price over $45K :)
Good luck!
