is it supposed to be "clean" and their done or if something comes out on the toothpick its not done cooking

I take mine out of the oven when there is just a little bit of batter left on the toothpick. They continue to cook once you set them on the counter and then you have chewy fudgy brownies, not dry ones. they are yummy

A clean toothpick means the brownies or cake is done. Check in middle of what you are cooking. If the toothpick has batter on it, it is not done.

The toothpick should come out clean...not to much stuff on it..it the toothpick comes out with alot of chocolate on it, then the brownies aren't done in the middle.

Depends on how you like your brownies. If you want them cakey, the toothpick should look exactly like it did when you stuck it in...wooden, no chocolate or crumbs. If the brownie mix is for "fudgy" brownies and you like them a little gooey, you should have a *few* moist looking crumbs on the toothpick. If you put the pick in and pull it out and the whole thing is covered with melted chocolate, they're not even close to being done! :)

CLEAN. IF ITS WET ON THE TOOTHPICK STILL NOT DONE. POKE HOLES IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE BROWNIES. ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE WHERE IT'S THE THICKEST PART.

check them about 2 minutes before the recommended time. I like my brownies chewy, and if the pick comes out completely clean, then they are overdone

Brownies are always better a little underdone..so that they are not gooey but a little soft..unless you make them so they are cake like...

greasy!! and clean but the brownies need to be gooey to be GOOD!!!!
