...and the fighting associated with them? This seems to be the biggest issue in our world today.

There have ALWAYS been extremists. All through time.

Education is not a bad thing. From what I understood, many of the hard-line Taliban extremists had not even read the Koran (because they were illiterate - so what they knew was only what other extremists told them)

It has been heartening to see Christians who came out to protest the anti-gay protests of Fred Phelps and his church members. (He's the pastor who's led protests at funerals of service men, saying that God is punishing the US because of Gay rights. His typical picket sign reads, "GOD HATES FAGS.") The best way to contain extremists is to pull together as many believers who are willing to stand up for their own faith and not allow themselves to be defined by the extemists. How much better it would have been for the Muslim community around the world to hold candle light vigils in protest of 9-11 instead of dancing in the streets of Amman, Jordan. How much better for US Christians to protest the torture going on in Guantanamo than to sit silently by. The best way to fight extremism is to have a vocal mainstream.

i can't speak for any group but my own. But from what I see it is our of the hands of Christan churches if people do not participate in corporate services and learn to get along with others.

Most Christian churches that I am familiar with are teaching some form of love for fellow man(human). But cannot be accountable for the ones who sit home and claim they are Christians or choose to be involved in an anti human race group(KKK or whatever)

It is not a religious issue, it is a human one.. human kind at it's best is a quagmire of jealousy and hate. A few people have have found that perfect peace that has the power to change, yet, others are so fearful of losing their "fun" they refuse to accept it.

By teaching the Truths of their religion, not the "what you want to hear bigotry."
