well ......u've got to be sauve when it comes to tricky situations like this one.......so how do u do it ?
here's how :
since its a gift , you can't offend the giver by giving it back to them.......it's impolite . instead what you can do is tell your girlfriend that your distant cousin or niece - make sure its a child (make up a fictitious character ,whoever it is that will never bump into your gf ever !) came by and loved the dog so much and the dog took such an immense liking to them , that u didnt have the heart to not say no . say it was a lovely gift , but what was even more special was the way the child's eyes lit up on seeing the dog...tell her that she was instrumental in making a small child happy ! tell her that there will always be room for dogs in your life but not really now.
that's it .......you'll be a sweet hero .....and she'll forgive u for even giving the dog away !
all the best .

She's testing you to see if you can deal with her!!!! She is also yappy, jumps around and is downright annoying.
Coincidence??? I think not!!! If you get rid of the dog she will get rid of you!!!!

My wife just bought me a Jack Russel so I feel your pain. Before I would say anything, I would find another home for the dog before you ever bring it up. Then when you do find another home, just explain to her how you feel about the dog and that you have found a loving home and I think she will be fine. hope that helps.

lol Well it IS a dog. They yap and jump and do all sorts of doggy things. Just tell your gf nicely that you aren't ready for a pet. You don't have the time or desire to devote to one. Ask her if she'll help you find another home for it.

Tell her "Thank you," & that she's so sweet & creative to come up with that idea for you. Then tell her that as much as you love her idea, it's just not working out for you to have a dog. Ask her if she wants to keep the little guy. If not, then ask her to help you find a loving home for your dog. Tell her you want to find the best home possible for him.

well appreciate her thoughtfullness in wanting to gift u something, but say that u arent a "dog-person" and looking after one requires patience and time which u cant do at the moment.. if she get upset, cheer her up by gifting her somethin in return.. maybe exchange this dog for another one... that way u dont have to spend anything!! ;-)

Tell her how you feel. It was inconsiderate of her to force an animal on you and unfair to the dog. Perhaps re-evaluate having a relationship with someone who lacks consideration for others.

tell her U like the intention but it's 2 much responsibility and U really don't want a pet right now....find a friend or relative who is lonely and would like to have a buddy and give it away....stress the fact that it was sweet, show her U care about her...she'll be more interested in that ;)

tell her that the idea of a dog or any animal wasnt appealing to you at the very beginning. tell her that you truely appreciate the gesture, however you dont think you are able to put enough love and time into your new pet. i suggest you have her take it back, or give it to your parents or a friend that is into the idea of adopting your kiddo ! good luck

what i would do is wake up early in the morning and take the dog and take it far out and just leave it and there you go . Or you can just tell her that you don't want the dog in one of the nice way to say it.
