and Serf I told atheists not to respond on the other one... this is their chance here.
Go back and talk to your god.

I would think God could break his commandments anytime he wished. I'm also quite sure if you read the Old Testament god did order many people killed after the 10 commandments were brought down.

Randy....
Any question involving god is a hypothetical question because his existence is a hypothesis. It cannot be proven.

I'm amazed at how you use a question to set Christians up. Just so you know, the only time that God EVER asked for someone to kill their child or best friend was in the case of Abraham with his son Isaac. And just before Abraham killed his son, God stopped him. It was only a test and God did it to see whether Abraham had enough devotion to God to put God above all other things. That's the point of that passage in the Bible. Not that we should kill people.

God does not ask this of people nowadays. And you better believe that as a Christian I would certainly question any command that would tell me to violate the rule in the New Testament which is to love one another.

HAHA. LOL That's the worst loaded question I've ever heard. It's like saying this, "Have you told your parents you're gay?" If you answer yes or no, you're in trouble. Why? Because of an unproven premise. Same with his "if God asked you would you kill people." If you say yes, you're homicidal. If you say no, you're disobedient to God. What's the problem? An unproven premise. A hypothetical question can only generate, at best, a hypothetical answer. If you're not smart enough to know this, you shouldn't have asked the question.

i'm a christian, but i'm also someone with what i feel is a fair amount of common sense. i think it all boils down to this: do you believe theres more to life than what we understand now? or not?

personally, i do. but i can understand someone not believing in us having a purpose, or thinking we come from something greater than us. BUT, just because i read a book, i dont believe everything in it to be true. just reading the bible doesnt make it all word-for-word correct. i read a book about some green eggs and ham once, that doesnt mean it all really happened. AND, just because theres no physical proof of god existing, that doesnt mean he doesnt exist. the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. i've never seen a billion dollars, and i never will. prove to me it exists. unless you put it in my hands, you cant. and either way, i win. lol.

so, it all boils down to personal choices. if we all tried to leave each other alone, and learned to be cool with each other, we'd be a lot better off.

but killing for religion doesnt make any sense unless you're being attacked and need to defend yourself. and anyone who votes for someone because they're doing what "god told them what to do" is a complete waste of space. i'm pretty sure that if theres a god, and he wanted to live in the white house, he'd have built it in heaven.

This is precisely why the Nazi's were able to exterminate the Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, and those with Birth Defects. Compliance with a deity that is more interested in contoling society than in offering peace of mind within society (while allowing you to work to change it) gives too much power to clergy and mob rule.

God told Abraham to kill his son, but stopped him before he went through with it (and he was going to do it).

God is such a trickster!

One thing is for sure - if you hear God talking to you then run like H E L L!

I particularly like the "God would never ask me to do that" argument. God did ask one of you to do it... Abraham. That kind of negates your argument. Man people are scary. Critical thinking should be a requisite in high school.

Like a pack of wild animals, only the animals kill for a reason. Survival, not superstition.

God will never say that. It's a commandment.

WOW, this combined with the ritual cannibalism practiced by the Catholic sect in their masses! I sure would not want a church on my block. This is spooky.

Yes, though some did give some rousing arguements against the possibility, still others just said "Heck, why not?"
