nothing wrong with it, they are clumps of cells that have the POTENTIAL to become a life. They are not life yet. Just as a bolt of cloth has the potential to become a suit, it is not a suit until much later. Life is something that is able to sustain itself with breathing on its own.

It's a question of whether you view life-- all life-- as sacred, or not. Now, before anyone goes throwing stones at me, my husband has Type 1 diabetes, which is one of the many diseases that could potentially benefit from stem cell research. And, yet, I'm still opposed. In my opinion, when a society starts making quality of life valuations on life in order to decide whether to allow one person to live or not, it's very shaky ground. True, you can say that it's a slippery slope fallacy, but I think that every time a life is ended because someone decides that life has no value, we become more comfortable of ending life based on convenience.

Finally, my opposition to embryonic stem cell research is that it doesn't appear that it truly will be the cure-all that science is hoping for. There are many, many issues with the practicality of utilizing embryonic stem cells. Instead of continuing to pursue this, the time would be better spent pursuing other stem cell research that does not involve ending the potential life of an embryo.

What's wrong with it? Well, if you ask 95% of the world populatioin (no matter their religious denomination), they believe LIFE begins at conception, not when the brain fully develops. If you went on brain development, you would have to say that all those poor souls that are born mentally handicapped, etc. or have a surgery to remove a part of their brain arent' human...now wouldn't you?Kinda stupid. Plus, embryonic stem cells, to date, have had NO positive results with their research or implementation. However, ADULT stem cells (taken from bone marrow), have shown better promise in research, have already been used to help patients, and can be manipulated for different cells throughout the body the same as embryonic stem cells. So, there is actually no viable need for embryos being used for research. They have never been proven to actually help and are a destruction of LIFE, no matter how small a beginning it is.

Too many questions and not enough hard knowledge. Go to the National right-to-life web site and then a Pro-abortion web site. May be you can get enough info to make a decision.

I think if you read this site that I am going to give you, you will see it is a rip off.http://www.firstthings.com/ftissues/ft0201/articles/condic.html Read it. I like to know what is going on about me so I get as much information on a subject as I can then make my decisions.

Not sure. Especially when the "president" says it's immoral to destroy embryos in the name of research, when the same unused embryos will be destroyed ANYWAY. ( they get incinerated)

So I guess it's better to destroy them so no reason, or storage issue reasons, than to find cures.

that is not the issue.... scientists have established that adult cells work better than embryonic ones, so why not use the most promising ones, and leave unborn babies alone..?

The issue with those opposed is not the level of development. It is the POTENTIAL for development.
