i agree with you. although im not sure exactly how free will would support christianity or atheism. free will is simply free will....it has no bearing on either....at least not that i can see.

This is a very good question! Too bad 10 points can't be given for good, well thought out (and supported) questions.
Before answering the question, please substitute Christianity for spirituality, so as to include all religions, and not target just one. Given that, I would say that, free will, along with native intelligence and profound thought, would almost have to yield a belief system of some type, simply because it is illogical to think that all "this" (everything that exists) did not have a source, a "First Cause", at some point of origin in the past.
Now, its true that most people pursue the religions of their immediate forbears, but, again, independent cognition and spiritual awakening will, in many cases, cause a change, either to another belief system, or, in some cases atheism. Many times atheists and skeptics develop their non-belief system based on what they haven't seen, as opposed to that which exists all around them.

No it truly is only stupid. i'm a Catholic and that i can inform you that all and sundry`non secular human beings by ability of heritage do no longer have a sturdy record on the abuse of human existence or the abuse and termination of undesired persons. this bit - Atheism might want to and has been used in help of mass human culling - you purely made up.Atheism isn't a theory, it only ability no longer believing in God. human beings do not go round justifying issues with it and under no circumstances have once you're saying atheism establishes no moral code .... Its no longer attempting to. Its those who set up moral codes, and atheists have only as many moral perspectives as all and sundry. Your very last paragraph - brother, what are you on? is this a funny tale that i'm no longer smart sufficient to get once you're Christian I ask respectfully please keep this stuff to your self you get us a foul call

Atheist as well are led in their thinking.. They are lead by the Humanistic Manifesto. Our educational institutions are like most human led groups, looking to evidence that strengthens only their own convictions, not necessarily the truth. The ability to think independently insinuates access to all legitimate information, this hasn't been done in our educational process, so by definition, none of us are truly "free thinkers."

Any belief is based on choice, one can only make a decision based on the information available to them at the time of choosing.
As we gain knowledge we sometimes changes our minds,and/or beliefs based on newer information.
Free will is what needs to be supported, and all sides must agree on that.

I know many people who were not raised in church and are Christian. I also know many who were riased in a Christian home and do not believe. how you were raised doesn't seem to have much bearing on it at all.
having a freewill allows you to make your own choices. I was raised in a Christian home, but I became a Christian for myself, my parents can't get me into heaven, what they believe or don't believe didn't sway me one way or the other.

Charlie where do you get your statistics?
People could choose either one with their free will. Atheism the easier choice obviously. You can just sit home and watch TV or play video games, no contribution to society required.

I wasn't raised in a Christian home, but my parents had respect for God, they just weren't Chrisians. I am Christian and I was not "drawn in" or "coerced". I knew from an early age that there was only one way and that was Jesus.

Atheism is a free will choice, usually after much studing. Christians are sheep they neither question nor change.
