Why do mormons sometimes cross their arms when they pray?

honestly, you guys seriouselly need to get out more. we fold our arms to show reverence and respect to our Heavenly Father. It's just so we're not distracting ourselves, or people around us. Most of the time i pray with my arms folded, but sometimes i just clasp my hands, it doesn't really matter as long as you are reverent. btw, you have an awfully lot of questions about Mormons, if you really want to know the answers, ask a mormon, or the missionaries, that way you can get real answers, and not these others from people who appear to know nothing about my religion. You don't have to join or anything, but it's a good way to get actuall answers.

Honestly, it doesn't symbolize anything... I pray with my arms crossed sometimes, sometimes with them behind my back, sometimes just dangling at my side. There really isn't a ritual to praying in "Mormonism", more just a cultural norm.

This is an excellent question from a very observant person!

It's actually a reminant from a parenting trick. While folding your arms is not required when praying, many Latter-day Saints acquired the habit when they were small children. Time and experience has shown that it is easier to teach small children to pray with reverence when their arms are folded and not available to do other things (e.g., play with things, bother other children, etc.)
