Doubt is a common hurdle for people that interact with more spiritual realms. The problem is of course that it is the opposite of faith, so it can act against your ability to experience and believe. It is also a useful tool to help you distinguish real from false. . . the trouble of course is determining if you need that to be distinct in the moment.

Know that "real" is not necessarily as concrete as you think. I fully believe that we can never fully comprehend the divinity around us, so we can never really know what "real" is.

You use the term fully. This implies that you have some level of interaction now. I'd suggest working with what you experience now. Perhaps it will grow. Perhaps you will find that it is exactly at the level you need it to be.

I'd also suggest looking at things from a metaphorical level. Alot of things of a spritual nature are difficult to express in words and concepts. For example, an impression of an image could be literal or it could be to convey a concept, anticipation for example, and therefore was simply put in a way that you would interperet that concept. Two people can experience the same thing in vastly different ways, and the truth of the matter is in the commonality. So in the example of the dryad, one may see the spirit of a tree as a beautiful woman, another as an old man, another still as the sound of the wind through the branches, and I personally would experience it as fluxes of emotion. No way is more true than another.

To deal with the issue of the closed mind I would suggest doing things that enable you to see the world differently. Meditate on your third eye. Visualise yourself opening to the world like a flower. Read myths from cultures you don't typically interact with. Do thinking outside the box type exercises, or simply see how many different ways you can view a situation.

Pagan here also. At first, I had a lot of trouble meditating and couldn't seem to relax enough. I found that stress from our daily livings is one of the hardest things to overcome so I can relax enough. Like anything else, this is something that you must work on not something that comes with the snap of your fingers. You might want to try to do so studying on your own, walk outside for a while or just sit and let your thoughts wander. It takes practice and belief. Stick with it, don't give up and don't let any negative emotions or thoughts hold you back. Blessed be!

Just take time with it. I am pagan also and have the same thoughts sometimes. Time in meditation helps.....and other than that just work on opening your mind. It will come when it comes. When you are ready. I'm part of a nice yahoo! group called solitary, if you are interested.

Susan, it is dryad. They are female tree spirits. See here if you need to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryad

Speaking of Jesus, the writer of the Gospel of John tells us: "That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." KJV

Light is often used as a metaphor for truth in the Bible. There is light, and everything else is darkness. There is only one way to tell the truth, everything else is error.

I'm sure you have heard that God loves you. Since God loves you, he will answer your prayer if you ask for his enlightenment.

Be warned, however. The purpose for this enlightenment is for you to make your choice concerning Jesus Christ. If you reject the light when you are enlightened, you may never in your life have the enlightening experience again.

Now there's only one question you need to ask yourself . . . Are you wise or are you foolish?

First off, it's Druids not dryads. I think you should do a lot of reading and some some serious comparitive studies of different religions then go with what feels right to you.

It's tough in a society that tells us that faeries, and magick doesn't exist. You just have to work hard to let all your preconceptions go and go with it. When you believe the proof will come to you. Meditation will help.

It sounds to me like your brow chakra might be helpful. Try doing some specific meditations to improve your psychic ability and open your third eye. You might also try to find a stone to carry around that is good for opening the third eye. Lapis Lazuli and Labradorite would be good. Mostly any stone that is deep blue....

Hope that helps!

Blessings and Light

Try readinf this book: The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.

Just pay attention on how to be the observer. How to observe your mind and your emotions. He gives you practical exercises to use to open and expand your self.

It is really the only part of the book I liked and I found it useful.

Like anything else it takes exercise. Use it. Think, study, memorize, and just like your body what you feed it, good stuff or junk makes a difference.
