Chances are, your puppy will be able to swim on his own. Many dogs can. The main thing you need to do is give him plenty of exercise (long walks), praise, food and love. Dogs love to please you, but they need to know what you expect of them. Train him/her with an obedience class and you'll both be happy. Good luck with your puppy!

Yes..he is 9 months old and a pure angel. I recommend waiting on the swimming until they are a year old. As for the fetch, they will naturally do that on their own without a lot of coaching from you. Invest is some very good teething toys so they don't chew on everything in the house. Also, remember to feed your puppy a puppy formula food for the first year. Giving him adult food may inhibit his development. Be careful about giving him anything but dry food because that may cause problems for you not only in the short term, but in the long term as well. Good luck with your new puppy!
