I need a high speed secure digital card for a 6 MP camera, but don't know what the minimum recommended speed is. 60X (9MB/sec)? 80x(12MB/sec)? Can anybody make a suggestion?

Write speed make a BIG difference when using the movie mode - video clips are fluid, not choppy.

The fact that your camera is 6MP really doesn't tell me much. The fact that you're worried about the movie mode, tells me that you have a compact camera vs. a dSLR.
With the vast majority of compact cameras, the camera is the limiting factor - they are slower than the best memory cards. Try doing a search for your model and "write speed".

The only time you need a fast read/write speed is when taking a succession of photos in "continuous mode" and only then when this exceeds the cameras memory buffer.
The read speed is only applicable when transferring from the camera to the PC. Why pay double the money when you just have to wait a few more seconds?? Buy twice the memory instead. Bigger is not always better!
