Bounce dryer sheets (or any of them for that matter) have properties in the chemical make up to ward off flies and ants. Just put them around the outside of your house to avoid these pests from coming in. These people have suggestions for ants in a garden check them out:

#1 is make sure there are no food items ANYWHERE uncovered. make sure trashcans have lids, and spills are COMPLETLY cleaned up.
#2 try to follow the path of the ants. they are going to a food source and then returning to their nests
#3 place the ant traps that contain a food source as well as a poison near their exit route. and if you can find the exit, place it at the former food source you cleaned up.
#4 wait. i have a horrible ant problem but i just had to make sure the house was cleaned well and place the traps. the traps take a while to work, 1-2 weeks, but are very effective. (and dont move the traps, the ants dont know they are poison, so they will continue to return. if you move them, the ants have to find them again.)

You can buy the ant spray for the door area or
ant traps.

On the outside of the door. This one helps alot.
use borax and icing sugar. Mix it half and half
make a small trail right along the door.
The ants eat it and take it back to there home and it kills
them off. Please note this one is environmental
safer than chemicals you purchase.
Ants are just pests. Good luck on getting rid of them.

Go to a garden center and get diotomaceous earth. It is a fine sand ground from rocks that were made up of tiny shells. It breaks down the exoskeleton of insects. Sprinkle it around the exterior of your house and across your doorsteps.

It is non-toxic, but do not breath the dust. It is a major lung irritant. You could use it inside, around the wall edges, if you live in a state where the insect life is more robust, but most places, all around the house outside is enough.

It kills slugs in the garden too, if you surround the plant.

We had this problem several years ago at our old home, the ants were horrible, you couldn't leave anything out or it would be covered with ants in the morning. I was told to put baby powder in doorways, windows, etc. I laughed when I heard this but it worked, and all we did was put it by the doorways, we did it one summer and never had ant problems again!!!

I just heard this the other day and haven't tried it yet so don't know for sure if it works. but they say bounce fabric softener sheets will get rid of them by laying them on the counter or where ever you have them. they say that these sheets tied to your belt will keep bees away from you when you are outside. i am going to try them for ants that come in my house.. something has to work..I have found where they are coming in my house and poured a little bit of comet there and it seems to be getting rid of some of them.. i am going to try the bounce it don't look as bad. hope you find something.. i know that they are annoying..
try the sheets they are cheap and if it don't work you can always use it for you clothes.

I have had good luck repelling them with Peppermint oil. I place about a tablespoon of the peppermint oil in 1 cup of water and soak a cloth in it...Then squeeze it out and wipe the area I see Ants coming in at. This has worked well to get them out of my kitchen and it is not toxic or harmful to humans.
