My ex-boyfriend still has strong feelings for me, and I like him, just not in that way anymore. I don't want to hurt him because he is one of my good friends. But I don't want to go out with him either. How do I tell him that I care about him, but don't want to be his girlfriend again?

Just sit down with him and be perfectly honest with him. Tell him that you want to be friends but not boy & girlfriends. If you don't be honest with him, you will wind up hurting him. Tell him that you don't want to hurt his feelings but it's just not there anymore. He can handle the truth better than wondering if you will go out with him or not. Good luck to you.

Tell him you found someone new. Say you are not interested in him but be nice.

You just did. "I don't want to go out."
That's really all you need. Anything other than that is just extra.
