im hearing more and more americans are moving to canada?

im curious what its like over there? whats health care like? is pay a good ratio to cost of living? im possibly looking into moving there im wondering about it...

Canada is a bi-linguial country, instead of states , we have provinces. Quebec is mainly french speaking while everywhere else is English. We get all the US TV stations so most Americans can keep up with what's going in. Our health care is provided free of charge in all provinces. Pay depends on your skill and what area of the country you settle in. Alberta(north of Montana) is booming, oil is big and wages are well into the 20-30.00 per hour for most skilled trades. The cost of living again depends where in Canada you want to settle. In the boom cities of Alberta, houses are expensive, go to MLS.ca, click on the province and you get ideas as to costs. The British Columbia coast (north of Wash, state) has the warmest winters with southern Ontario next.The Atlantic provinces(East of Maine) have decent winters, great summers and the lowest cost of living. Both my wife and clear $14.00 per hour, have a 2600sq.ft home on 2 acres and a mortgage of a little over 600.00 a month.We are in New Brunswick. The same home in Toronto would easily cost 200-300,000. Vancouver, 300-400,000. Calgary, Edmonton 250,000. We paid 125,000. Canada is very multi-cultural, we have elections for Prime Minister every 4 years, Premiers(Governors) the same. Canada has 10 provinces and 2 Territories and is bigger geographically than the U.S. 1/10th the population. Crime in bigger cities of course, but possession of handguns and rifles requires a permit.Our health care, schools , are governed over and legislated but most Americans moving here, love our system and Canadians can travel anywhere abroad without fear of being mistaken for Americans.My grandparents were from the U.S., my Mom was born there as well, so you could be like them and have the best of both worlds.Hope this is enough info for you. Life's good in Canada.

Thiink of us as a giant "blue state"....Traditionally, Canada has held much more liberal values than the States, and more welcoming for gays, minorities.. it's also more multicultural, and by virtue of our gun laws - a lot safer.

Our cities are consistantly ranked (by magazines like the Economist, and the UN agencies) as the best on the planet, while US rarely crack the top 20. We have an abundance of natural resources, wide open spaces and water. A well educated society where everyone has access to healthcare, no matter how rich or poor you might be.

We pay more taxes here, but otherwise the ratio to cost of living is similar to the US.

I think a lot of Americans are moving because they can't stand the blood on their hands as a nation, the rise of the religious right's influence in government and the president that was elected with less that 40% of a voter mandate..

Health care is free, but don't count on that. It may take up to 9 months to get an MRI and because the doctors aren't paid per surgury, they usually don't do the most efficient job. Pay is good, but don't forget that we have to pay14% tax on everything !!!! Not like the US. Weather is generally the same as the Northeastern US. We are a little too multi-cultural. Now the Chinese and Middle-East immigrants have more rights than people originally born in Canada. The government had been on the decline 1 1/2 decades with the Liberals in power. Finally we are starting to look a little more Americanized with Stephan Harper, a Conservative as the Prime Minister. (Don't confuse Canadian Liberals and Conservatives with American Liberals and Conservatives. They are very much different. If you are in the US, then you would be better to stay there. I'm a Canadian but I am planning on moving to the US. I'm sorry to say that there are many Canadians who aren't welcoming to Americans. They are brainwashed by Paul Martin (former PM) to think that all Americans are War Mongers. I went to school with a very tight minded Liberal who "Hated all Americans". This country is going down the drain, but hopefully Harper will fix it up. Another thing,,,,, I will probably be blasted by Canadians for saying this, but we are not as patriotic as Americans are. I never see anybody salute the flag at a hockey game here or hold their hand to their heart. Also,,,,,, TOO MANY GAY RIGHTS !!!!!. The government will do anything to make them happy.

Health care is free! Pay is good depending on your skills and cost of living is higher in more populated areas...but far lower in small towns. We have a far lower crime rate and less gun violence than most countries. There are equal opportunities for everyone! Most people are easy going and friendly here, we have beautiful country and lots of natural resources. Most people you meet love fishing, hunting, hockey, beer and good food. We have cold winters in the northern areas and mild ones further south. I would suggest you move to Ontario, I think it is the best province in Canada and has the most lakes and rivers....I live in ontario though so I am biased....lol Just to let you know we would be happy to share our country with you and we love to teach newcomers what being canadian is all about so if you move here be ready for some good natured teasing and dont believe anyone if they try to convince you to go cow tipping...LOL

I am Canadian and all i can say is this is the life ..... best place to live in , in the world in my opininon .... no offence to other ppl in other countries
